Just bought a new firebolt (2010) and I need to know the tallest point on the bolt. I'm gonna attempt to take it home in the minivan (Ford windstar)
I got about 7.5 feet of length, 4 feet of with but need to know the height of the bolt.

I don't know if it will fit or not, but you damn well better take some pictures if you get it in there. That should be PRICELESS!

Remember your bike weighs close to 500 pounds... that's a lot of weight for a minivan. You may want to consider a light bike trailer and a hitch on the van...

Couple more ideas: with some clever use of ratchet straps you could collapse the front suspension enough to get it to fit. Or you could pull the front wheel right off, its a fairly simple process.

Last suggestion, go to enterprise rent-a-car and rent a pickup. Hell, even a u-haul would work. Usually only 30 or 40 bucks if you are only using it for the day.

1+ on the uhaul rental i dont think it will fit to tall will messure when i get home though. i would not worry about the weight it only weighs alittle more the 400 about the same as two big guys in the back of the van..

I can't see a problem with height - the mirrors being the taller thing on the bike, they can be taken off easily. I'll measure mine when I get home if no one's posted up.

I'd consider what ^they^ had to say, also though.

Be careful compressing the suspension with ratchet straps. This can very easily blow out your fork seals. One member on here found this out the hard way.

It's four degrees outside (bout 36F) and it's an hour drive on the highway. I still have to break in the motor. I don't think I can drive highway speeds while breaking it in.

My van has 47 inches of height available.

Easy to take off the fairing.
Air out of the tires.
Both would get you a couple of inches.

Oh and wet weight is at least 50lb more than dry weight. So it should come in at somewhere around 450lbs.

1001yos sorry about that, I take for granted that i ride year round. i live in south Texas. It never gets cold here!

Yeah you aren't going to be able to get it in any minivan without taking off some of the simple plastics. I think i came off more negative that i was intending. Anyway, those plastics are easy to pop off, besides that, you have plenty of room in length and width. you could easily fir two in with those dimensions.

Sarnia Ontario. Bout' 5 min outside of port huron MI. (Boarder town) The weather is supposed to get to 16C (bout' 60F)tomorrow. Maybe drive it home. I'll probably doubble pants it.

60 is plenty warm it was 58F here tonight and i rode an hour to the drag race track then and hour back. lol

you may have the room but what are you going attach your tie down straps to , not much in a mini van as far as true hard points to tie down to .
If you tie down and ratchet to much to keep the bike from moving you could rip through the thin sheet metal in the floor or sides, vans are not trucks , just like cars are not made to pull stuff. although you may acomplish getting it in the van , It would really suck if the bike you just bought falls over , and breaks several things on the bike or breaks out your vans windows because it was to much for thin sheet metal, and NO the child tether points are not strong enough either to hold 500 pounds from faling over , and ripping them out of the floor , your wife would be really pissed at you for that,

Please rent a truck you can get one for less than $100 for a day. cheaper than fixing the bike and your minivavn. or better yet find some one with a truck and borrow it or give them $50 bucks for it for a day, Hell I'd pick it up for you if you lived close , but you probably dont. any ways Good luck and welcome the BUELL FAMILY, and RIDE SAFE.

This is how i roll [smirk]
Built the trailer myself. Couldn't get the bike in the hatch back haha

i vote for riding it, but i really want to see pics of it in a van.

just tell the person youre buying it from that they need to ride it to your house for you. a dealer will certianly do it, because they already have the facilities to move bikes around. a private party wil usually just ride it, so they can make the sale.
