Thanks for being the guinea pig!

Awesome write up as well. I have my first long ride this week so I'll see how necessary it will be.

Ya, I like keeping the stock triple clamps too.. I've been riding a lot lately, and some 2-up riding. The risers are very nice. Glad I did it.

Fourty...

racerpro, the bars have a tongue machined into the end to keep them from spinning in the triple. I was wanting to make some a little wider, but got stumped there.

Great write up fourty. This is something I'm going to check into doing now. I've back problems and need to sit up a little more. Thanks again +1

i copy catted, but used thick gel grips and grip heaters with the switch mounted in the fairing support. the wires tied above the ignition are no longer visible.

make sure you use jb weld on the grips and NOT 3m weatherstrip adhesive with heated grips! the stuff goes gooey and the grip slips off ask me how i know lol

the best part is i can finally cruise when im lazy :)

I was too cheap to buy them so I ended up making my own. Used an extra set of stock handlebars and cut them just after the mount. Had my welder tig weld in a 4" high x 7/8" wide x 1/2" thick riser. Riser is angled about 40 degrees off the triple tree.

Wow what a difference. The bike is so much more comfortable to ride. Probably the best mod to date.

Also had to buy a Lightning clutch and brake cable to fit.

That couple inches of rise and pullback make all the difference in the world!

Do you have a pic Lawdog? I love this mod and I want it! I cant stand the idea of giving up my race tripple setup. Im just trying to find a way to make the mod cheaper. Im a little broke and im getting ready to have a back surgery and can use the savings.

Sorry brightbuell I sold the bike. Basically cut the stock handlebar off right after the mount. Weld in T304 Stainless steel bar as a riser. I used 7/8" width, 4" long, and 1/2" thick. 1/2" thick was kinda overkill and I think 3/8" or 7/16" thickness would be fine. Weld some 7/8" OD bar on the other end or the rest of your stock bars and you are good to go. Hard part is figuring out how far back, ie your rise and run, to clear the front fairing.

2" pullback and 2" rise makes all the difference of the world. Best comfort mod and made the bike much much more comfortable. Did I tell you how much more comfortable it made the bike! LOL. Its that significant and no more hunched over arms hurt, lower back pain, hands numb feeling.

Also forgot to mention I got a lightning clutch cable and front brake line as stock was too short. Wiring and throttle cables fit fine after relocating. At full lock the levers will hit the fairing. No way around it. If you want enough rise to get comfortable they will hit at full lock. Didnt make a difference when riding but I couldnt use the steering wheel lock. But the comfort difference alone I could live without it.
