$20 is pricey? I don't think so. It's about 3 beers at the pub. The ease of use makes it worth it.

I had Baldwin do a custom seat for me, and there was no way I'd be dealing with any screws back there easily. If $20 is out of your range, make your own. Pretty simple to do I suppose - couple of bolts, nuts, hacksaw, drill, grinder, sting, and clips. Me, I've got better things to do. :D

i thought 20 was much too, BUT when you install it totally worth the $ best part besides the ease of removing the seat is the fact no more creasing the corners!!!

Like I said on another post just buy a longer bolt with the same thread and cut the head off. Then drill a hole in it large enough for a small allen to tighten down. If you wish then put on a nut to lock it down.

This way might cost you $1. Parts would be at any hardware store and might take 10minutes to cut the bolt and drill the holes.

Installed the kit from ASB. 4k miles later, I can confidently report: no problems and no more awkwardly folding over rear seat corners.

Install must be a snap: I did it successfully. No performance change, and it's unseen, so no bling value. ;)

In addition to its nicely finished task-specific hardware, ASB's kit arrives in a heavy-duty baggie, with instructions, and a sticker.

[up] I have the ASB set up but had it from my first bike I would never pay $20 for basically two bolts with the heads cut off.

These are not hard to make.

2 1/4x20 bolts with a shoulder
2 1/4x20 nylock nuts
2 1/4x20 flat washers
2 retaining pins

took me all of 15 min to fab mine and at a cost of about $2.50
