So Im thinking of purchasing a used Buell....thought I would come to the source and try to get some feedback.

I currently ride a chopper that I built several years ago, and I've been bit by the "naked bike" bug. I think these Buell's are beautiful machines, and would love to get behind the controls of one. I found a 2003 XB9S a couple miles down the road on Craigs List...completely stock with very low miles. Now I am performance oriented, so she wouldn't stay a stocker for long...I've rode sport bikes before and understand the transformation I am getting ready to undertake, needless to say I am not an amateur rider. I am not looking to take it to the track and run time trials or anything, basically just a mountain road cruiser. I've read several reviews of the 03 XB9, heard their downfalls and perks, anyone own the 03 model? Personal review's or experiences? Let me hear em....thanks

have a 03 xb9r,basicly the same, love it.ride chopps myself, have owned roughly 24 bikes in my 23 years of riding, raced for 7,have riden it all, dirt, street, supersport, vintage, custom.ect, hands down the Buell is the funnest bike i have ever owned, period.

Right on, Thanks man. So from all of your experiences do you like the power from the 9, or do you wish you had opted for the 12?

first thing to understand about these bikes is that they are not high speed bikes.they are ment for carving in the turns, and eating up jap bikes in doing so.are we ever really happy with the power output of a bike? at some point and time you will get board of even the fastest bike and crave more power,ya i would love to do a bigger motor, but with that being said, you need to learn what the bike is about, torque.so do i want a bigger displacement? no,i want to use the bike for what it was made for and do mods to it to pull every bit of useable tq/hp i can put into it out of it,via stock or aftermarket mods to the motor.i would enjoy the result more knowing i did some homework and put together a combo that worked and let the others(jap bikes)try to catch me in the twisties.so no,i'm glad and happy with my 9.
