So I was walking out to my bike yesterday and noticed that the rear tire was low checked it out and found a very small pinhole. What should I do? I will replace the tire if necessary but just wanted to see my options.[sad]

Always safer to change it seeing how we ride on 2 wheels, I rather see you out 150 as oppose to possibly losing your life.[smirk]
Pinhole how did you find it soap and water?

Two shops I use won't do patches. It is a safety thing more than a sales thing for these folks.

I'm using a tire coating in mine. Creates a film that's self-sealing if there's a puncture. No issues and I've had a nail in my rear tire for 6 months.

i gotta agree with Jon on this. i had a nail in my rear tire after only 1000 miles. had to spend 200 for a new tire, but it's worth it for peace of mind.

I just plugged mine. I got a staple in it at 200 miles, and a screw at 3000 miles. Plugged both and had to replace the tire at 4000 miles when it was wore out.

Both plugs held fine. My puncture were both just off center, one on the left and one on the right.

I mostly just use my bike for commuting. If you ride really aggressive, or do track days a new tire is probably the way to go.

I caught a screw in the center of my rear when my tire was nearly new. Plugged it and rode it another almost 5k miles till the plug started leaking slowly...but the tire was pretty much done by that time anyway.

I have two small nails in my rear tire but its never gone flat. I will get new tires in the spring. Fuck spending $150 if its not flat. Unless your racing I would find away to patch it untill its time to get new tires. Our motorcycle tires are built very well, and there has never been a case that i have ever heard where someones tire blew up from a tiny ass nail hole that was patched.

Well thanks guys the stock scorpion sync have about 4000 miles anyways now and I ride it well over 100 often so patching for the week and I'm going to order some pilot power 2ct tires. Sucks but $300 for both mounted and balanced and I will know I'm covered.

$300 mounted? Where are you getting them? You can get the set from Jakewilson.com for less than $200 with code jw009...then mounting for $10/each at most shops.
