What does foamy oil mean?

I had just hopped off from a 40 minute ride and didnt really give it time to settle, so I was wondering if that was normal...

Thanks,

Was it more Milky or just foamy? Milky would mean that their is water in the oil, foamy or just a little froth could just be from the pump sucking air from the engine case, which would be normal as it extracts all the oil from the casing.

I see alot of people on the board talking about foamy/milky oil in their resevoir/primary. If your guys are warming up and letting your bike cool down outside and its cold it WILL pull moisture out of the air. Its just science. Best thing to do is let your bike warm up/cooldown in the garage. I warm my bike up outside but I let it cooldown inside. And change your oil MORE OFTEN if your riding in winter.

If it gets too much water it is of course bad for your engines life span, and te sludge could possible freeze in the lines and seize your engine up! I change my oil every 1k miles if im riding in the winter, as I am now. Waiting for the this weekend to get my Pitbull Stand and ill change it agian.

Thanks Thaloc,

Which pitbull stand did you go with? I really need something to help me do all the stuff I try to do on my own..
