Yeah it is intimidating, but just about every fuel injection system out there works almost exactly the same from a 250cc motorcycle to a 1000 hp drag car, so once you get it you get it.

I'm not really sure what was done with your bike, but I wouldn't buy a race ecm myself, as it takes less than 30 min to flash the race maps. If your that intimidated though, it may be for you. If you're willing to learn and deal with some frustration, you'll be better off in the end because you can manipulate the ecm as you wish once you know how.

I'd go with a K&N, the race maps burned to your stock ecm, and a muffler of you choice.

The race maps are richer than stock, which is much needed.

good morning retrax: i suspect that your receipt from 2007 that came with bike is showing the dealer flashed a race map into the stock ECM. the part # you listed on your response is for the stock ECM in bike under seat. an EBR race ECM have their own markings and part #. in answering some of your questions....yes....EBR ECM and stocker physically the same, same location on bike. the EBR race ECM is expensive. i suggest working with what you have, either borrow or buy the ECM spy program CD and patch cable, set it up in your garage/shop, have someone familiar with it help you or i can email you directions, get the program up and running and plug into your bike, see what you have. if you have the race maps flashed onto your ECM you probably just need a few adjustments, checks and tweaks to make it perfect. on exhaust both drummer and Hawk very good. i have Hawks on all 3 of my buells and they're great...and reasonably priced.

I absolutely love this bike. It is so much different than the inline 4's I owned in the nineties and early 2000's. The V-twin torque curve is a lot of fun on the street.

I have a cable that came with my 08 Firebolt for the ECM, but had no idea if I could use it on my new Ulysses considering my confusion on hardware. It seems there are no 2010 maps. Will an '09 map work with a 2010 XB12XT?

All the maps are the same from 02-07 so, 08-10 should also. The "maps are the same but the firmware maybe different that's why you only burn the maps.

Ah that makes sense, thanks for the education! So never mix firmware between years, got it. I didn't see a range of years, just individual maps for each year so I thought they'd be year specific.
