Just scheduled my '08 Ulysses with around 18k miles on it to have fork oil changed at the dealer. They say it's a labor intense job and estimate it's going to cost me around $300. Does that make sense?

I picked up the bike with 10k 2 years ago and I don't know if the PO had the oil changed or not. I figure I can manage the rest of the upcoming 20k service by myself.

300 is about right, but it should be a complete rebuild, not just an oil change, seals, bushings, whole nine yards

yeah, they said they have to take them off and all and that's why it's it will be long and costly. The Service Manual though only mentions fork oil change, so is this overhaul really necessary?

I had to have mine rebuilt at about 18k, but it was under warranty, they were leaking, the tech said expect to do it every 20-30k, I haven't had any more issues

so what would you say, if there is no signs of leaking then just change the oil?

yeh, if they aint leaking, might want to change the dust seals just for ***** and giggles
