Frame Help

Hey, feel like this was a massive oversight on my behalf but ive only just started pulling my bike down for some modding and noticed that the air intake tunnel which runs through the frame on my 07 frame is still welded in. Im assuming that the tunnel is still there just not machined out from factory after the 05 models. Does anyone know this for sure cause id really love not to have to weld the frame after I put a 1/4 hole in it to find out Theres just no other way to run the intake plumbing on this model. from what i have read about those newer models is that the gas tank is a lil bit bigger now,cus of that intake being welded shut. so if you drill a hole in it you will be leaking gas.

The newer bikes have larger fuel capacity, so the tunnel must not be there anymore. Plus, thats you're gas tank! you shouldn't be doing any cutting or drilling on a gas tank!

Yeah going good, shoulder healed up about six months back. I got back on the horse but I dont leave home without all the gear on nowa days. Theres been a lot of people dying lately and just recently one of my friends so I decided to take the bike off the road. This is where I wanted to start modifying it but ive just hit a big snag. Without being able to run intake through the frame im not sure how im going to make it look any good

Thanks for asking though I still cringe when I see sport bike riders go flying past me in my work care doing 150kmh in nothing but a wife beater and shorts

yep I guess I needed to find out the hard way Im really stumped with the frame sitting the way it is. I really only have two options that I can see:

1) Remove my frame and weld the tunnel back in (shouldnt be too bad since you cant see the welds anyhow)

2) Buy a second hand ->05 frame with the old style tunnel that I need. Second hand in australia is no go so that would mean buying one from usa and shipping it over

I guess 3) buy another older bike. I always liked the lightnings better anyhow. Then have 2 bike!

why are you trying to run the intake plumbing thru the frame? what's wrong with the intake on top of the cover near the gas cap?

Yeah looks like thats what ill be doing. Im looking around $1200aus by the time it hits my hands. Then sell mine and the race computer and all the luggage ill never use again. Hopefully ill end out even steven.

Ill feel bad selling it knowing that its the same computer with a different map, im just gonna flash the original and throw that back in, then tune it and sell the techlusion. Sucks I always have to source my parts from over there, kills me in freight

Yeah that does suck. If it makes you feel any beter, all the good aftermarket parts are sold in Europe
