Frame Powder Coating

Hey guys,

Im looking at potentially powder coating the frame on my 1125R. I dont like the blue and never have and want to go to black. So I have been reading a whole bunch of posts ect about it and seem to get the understanding of what I need to do for prep work (blast or chemically etch) and how to actually bake the parts (couple degrees cooler than normal). But my biggest question is what do i do about the sticker on the frame and vin number stamped into the frame? Will the powder coating cover the vin? Then what do i do about the Buell sticker can i get another one? Where can i?

Just tape over the vin, try a heat gun to get the sticker up.

As far as the sticker try to heat it up with a heat gun and carefully slowly remove it.
Im currently doing a lot of powder coating on my bike, I didn't powder coat my frame but I powder coated just about everything else. I wouldn't worry about the vin getting covered, I just finished my woodcraft rear sets and I went heavy with the powder and I can still see the fine lines in the details of the brake and shifter levers.
And for the paint removal baking soda and aluminum oxide has worked best for me. Aluminum oxide is a little bit more abrasive and puts a frost look to the part.

Thanks guys. Does the VIN sticker have to be on the bike though after repaint?

Once you remove it I can't see you being able to put it back on successfully. The Vin is stamped on the frame so I personally wouldn't worry about it.
