So I added some heated handlebar elements to my bike and after attempting to integrate the wiring as much as possible, I got everything buttoned back up and it wouldn't start. The bike would turn on, prime the fuel pump, neutral light was on, kill switch was working correctly but when I pressed the starter button nothing would happen. It just so happens that the orientation on the copper spring inside the starter button assembly on the controls dictates whether the connection is completed or not. I found that the narrow diameter of the copper spring goes down onto the lever that you push and the larger diameter portion goes up onto the flat copper blade. So as you press the button, the two copper nodes touch and complete the circuit between the flat copper blade, the spring and the lever. Freaked me out at first thinking I had busted it or grounded something wrong but it just ended that the spring was upside down .
