Front brake locked up while riding... recently purchased bike, high to low elevation to blame?

Also... being that you possibly got it all REALLY hot... flush all that fluid out when you bleed it. Just to be safe.

As for "what levers those are"... there are tons of knock offs, of varying quality... many built to look exactly alike (or imitate more expensive ones). There really isn't a way for you to know.

I have the same exact levers (cheap chinese stuff from ebay) - I had to grind that same part for it to fit, although in my case the mistake was mine... I ordered the wrong model [mad]

For reference (F is brake, B/C is clutch):

• XB12, all models (04-08): F-21/B-55
• XB9, all models (03-09): F-21/B-55
• 1125R (08-09): F-14/C-777
• 1125CR 2009: F-14/C-777
• XB12R 2009: F-14/B-55
• XB12Ss 2009: F-14/B-55
• XB12Scg 2009: F-14/B-55
• Ulysses XB12T 2009: F-21/B-55
• Ulysses XB12X 2009: F-21/B-55

Wow grinding down levers to save a couple of bucks? You must be tired of your life.....don't play man...buy some real levers....

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but, for the sake of argument, let's say that a set of Pazzo levers are $200, and that these these Chinese knock-offs are $50. That's a difference of $150. If it takes you 15 minutes to grind down the brake lever, that's $600/hr you've just earned for your effort! :p

Especially if it's proven to be the issue, with no ill-effects.
Grinding isn't always dangerous... if you know what you're doing.

Time to get a pair of OEM levers. Cut the ends of those down if you want shorty... that is what I did. Not going to mod the business end that should be saving my life, not endangering it.

That'll also work, but it presents its own dangers. That rounded 'ball' cast into the end of levers is designed to prevent it from gutting you in a crash. You won't pass a race-track safety inspection with sawed-off levers.

My father in law races with sawed off levers
Perhaps some inspectors aren't as thorough, or perhaps the race-prep rules vary by track, but I’ve never seen a bike with sawed-off levers pass inspection.

Regardless, the point still stands that if you’re concerned about safety, a sawed-off OEM lever may not be the answer you're looking for. :)

Yeah I don't know he's gone many times. Seems like a pretty legitimate place. Can't even recall the name right now it's near the border of GA and FL....jenkins? or jennings? something like that.

I don't really see the safety issue. What if you fall over the bars it could penetrate your body? Sorry to say but with that much force a little ball won't matter. The bar itself could do the same damage.

I don't really see the safety issue
No question, a stock OEM lever can do some damage too, but that ball on the end will have a much tougher time piercing leather.  I know if I had the choice between being jabbed in the scrotum with a sawed-off lever, and a rounded lever, I'll take the rounded one any day of the week!
