what squid said ref. the dot. it is a reference to point correct surface of the rotor outward and also indicates the lightest part of the rotor so that it is installed on heaviest part of the rim. the valve stem area of any rim is generally considered to be the beefiest....at least in theory.Why does the dot have to go by the stem
but saying that its the lightest area of the rotor doesn't make sense.
