Hey everyone, n00b here. I just bought my '03 XB9R and the front brake lever does not trip the brake light (I knew of this before buying but the bike was a great deal.) Do y'all believe it could be a fuse problem or a sensor problem? What are the possible part numbers?

Thanks in advance

check to see if the casing on the sensor is pushed open or even if the pin that gets pushed isn't below the lever. If they had removed the lever it may have been forgotten when they reinstalled. Otherwise it's simple to replace.

Not only is it simple to replace, but if you need a new one it is only about ten bucks at a Kawasaki stealership........ Had to replace mine to pass hawaii state inspection.

joe: diagnosis is remove wires from switch, key on position, jump wires. brake light come on? it's the switch. if replacing be sure to take it along to dealer and compare. XB's had 2 styles of these nissin switches with one a thin blade terminal and the other wide blade. yours should be wide blade but take it along and match it up.

mine does the same thing and i haven't invested any time into figuring out the problem yet. I'm assuming mine is the switch as i do know for a fact the brake lever is triggering the switch

Lunatic is right, unless its the fuse, or an open in the stop light wires at the neck, or the bulb. The OP didn't mention if the light works with the rear brake pedal.
If jumping them doesn't work...
You can get a usually free test light from harbor freight and see if there's power on one terminal at the handle bar switch, if not check your wiring/fuses.

The rear brake works and as egobuster was saying, I know the lever is tripping the switch because it clicks. I'm not gonna worry too much about it but I will see what I can do.
