While I was trying to get my fuel pump working I got really familiar with my xb9. I noticed that the Front isolator bolt has a flat rubber wash around head. There is a space or about 2 cm. Is this normal? I'm the second owner of my 2003 xb9s. I've always have had vibration issues, but I thought it was just a buell thing. Is the gap be cause of my numb hands?

Also, has anyone removed the isolator bolt? The service manual makes it look simple.

the gap is normal, yes. but they can wear out and cause vibes while still having a gap.

i went through a few isolators, the newer upgraded version was much tougher but they are still wear parts. here's a pic of my first one that failed. had crazy vibes in the bars.

and a pic comparing bad vs. good

my isolator mount cracked at 3000 miles on my 04 12r. Very easy to replace. Took 15 minutes complete mount cost $82.50 at HD

+1 to that, forgot to add the install process is cake. think i replaced 3 of them or so, never had an issue... except for wear.

type1 holy crap, that bad one is exactly what mine looks like, guess it's time for a replacement. Thanks for advice/help.

yeah, i was about 2hrs away from home one day when i pulled over to scope why i had such crazy vibes going on. damn thing was melting internally. hahaa!

the newer design is beefier and will last longer. no sweat on the tip [up]

Hey type1, Another question for you. I just spoke to my local buell shop. Did you have to replace the entire assembly or could you buy just the rubber replacement? My shop is saying the rubber insert is NOT sold separately. I have to pony up $85.

when mine went out i just made it a solid motor mount= bad idea. shakes like a son of a bitch,i still got it as a spare tho.

One sign of ISO bolt failure is; Improper torque of the other engine brackets/iso mounts. Check em' all or give me a call!:p

I have one in mint condition, I will sell for $30 shipped. Came off my parts bike that hade 12,500 miles on it.
