I hadn't really given this much thought...but when exactly does the low fuel light come on? Is it when you have the listed "reserve" fuel left, or is it sooner than that?

That's what I thought, too. My Ss is listed as having a 4.4 gallon tank but if I fill up as soon as the light comes on I can get barely over 3 gallons into her...so I should be sitting at about 1 and a quarter gallons when the fuel light comes on.

as far as riding with the "Low Fuel Light" on, i havent seen anybody on here go over 35 miles or so, i'll do 20-25 miles that it.

riding with low fuel, is not good on the pump either, i had a wire go bare and shorted out the pump. had to remove the pump and melt the plastic back over the hole. but it works for now.

Raz - was that as soon as the light came on? I've ridden almost 30 miles with the light on, and even then could only get 3.6 or 3.7 gallons into the tank.

I guess my light just comes on early? Kinda makes me want to put a half gallon of gas in my tail bag and go ride till I run out...see just how far I can go, and how much it take to really fill it up...

My Firebolt owners manual states 3.7 gal. capacity, low light on at .7 gal. I've had it come on at 120 miles, and at 145. That's all I got.

:D

The amount it takes to fill it back up depends on the year model. I don't remember the exact year, but the early frames had a hole through them for the air intake. They removed this hole and added fuel capacity to the later models with out the tube. Just to try and help clear up the issue of how much to fill it up. I would imagine no matter the year the reserve level is all the same.
