Just bought my 09 1125cr! Love it so far. I know it is a sport bike and I shouldn't expect to get to great of mpg's out of it. But what can I do to improve it?

"Easy" on the throttle works for me...every now and again the devil gets in me and there goes my mpg:D

I never get close to 50 MPG on my XB12S, came close a couple of times, mostly high 30's low 40's mpg at best, I always assumed the 1125's would do better on fuel than the sportster based Buell motors. Kinda hard to take it easy for fuel milage, might as well buy a cruiser

The Buell bikes with Harley motors get outstanding mileage actually. Not sure why you would think the austrian motor would do better. Most sportbikes get well below what the HD bikes get. As odd as it sounds, Harley Sportbikes have one up on everyone else in fuel consumption :D

Im noticing this to Lesley. My M2 with the 1250 kit and cams seemed to be less thirsty than my 1125.

FWIW My 1125 hangs around 34 MPG

36 according to Fuelly. I have hit 38 on a few occasions, but with the EBR stator I like to keep her at 4.5k-5k. Gas light usually comes on at 150-155 miles, sometimes 160. I usually run her another 10-15 miles afterwards. Fill up is right at 4.8-5 gallons to filler neck in the frame.

I know several who drive the rotax powered can-am spyder's and those larger vehicles get 29-33 MPG, that is about what I get with an XB12S on a normal day. I had to baby the Buell to get into the mid to high 40's. I assumed the rotax motor in a sport bike would surely do better than that. Is there much difference between the Can-am's rotax and the one Buell used?

We're gonna hafta ask that everyone recalibrate their calculators.....[confused]

lol i just wanted to know what i could do to improve millage. i know a heavy wrist has a lot to do with it but i'm really pretty light on the wrist usually. i currently average about 38ish. a lot of hwy riding to.

not every light comes on at the same time, but I used to hit 120 pretty regularly, usually floated around 45-50 mpg

Thanks not bad for an XB12s. Mine comes on at 115 on my XB9S. I'm averaging in the 40's on my XB which is why its my daily driver. My CR is in the low 30's. I'm also a big guy so with just me on it with gear is like riding two up.
