Fuel Light Range

Just curious what you guys are getting for the fuel light range. Once the fuel light comes on how far can I go before I press my luck!

Reason I ask is I just got into work and the light came on. I get off at 3am and the nearest Sunoco gas station open is 18 miles away. Do you think I could make 18 miles on the light? Otherwise there is a Speedway about 10 miles away but I prefer Sunoco gas.

Yes, you can make it there. Basically this is how it works. Fuel light comes on, you have about .7 gallons left. You get roughly 50mpg, so ~25 mile range.

Thanks Kyle, Usually I fill up in 5-10 miles after the light comes on so I have never pressed the issue before.

Depends on how hard you ride it Lawdog. Ive gotten 39 miles with my light on before and around 25 at the lowest. FYI the Speedway here in Delta has separate pumps for the premium gas. I prefer it cause its hard to know what is in the hose at the pumps where there is only one.

lol funny you should ask I have gone to the exact limit twice... slow learner I guess. it got aprox. 39mi till my bike cut out, both times. so I would say 30 is a safe bet on an 09 XB12Scg.

I do the same, I go to a Kangroo gas station here and pay a big premium to get the 93 octane, because it comes out of it's own pump. because if you really think about it, if it all comes out of one handle of course most people get 87 and then you roll up to fill your 3 gal tank and you will prob get about .5-1 gal of non 91+ octane gas. Theoretically of course. I cold be wrong.

i put a half gallon in the tank bag, and went until it stalled. 36.0 mi on the fuel odo.
XB9 K&N filter, race ecm, stock can.

ive gone 31 miles with no problems before.... but was a scared little boy while doin it cause i had no clue where i was or where a gas station was

Hit 40 after light came but I did nurse it the last 10 or so. Was not sure how close the next fill up would be. I expect 45 would be my max.

Well last night I made it 24 miles so I imagine I had another 5-10 mile range. Need to do like Nilla and bring a gas can to see what my range actually is. It was a chilly ride in the 30's but heated leather is nice! [up]

20 to 25 miles made me sweat but I made it with a little to spare.

i ran out after ~40, but that doesn't make any sense to me. i've filled up immediately after the light came on before, and it took 2.5 gallons. these things have a 3.7 gallon tank, right? (2004 xb12r) which leaves 1.2 gallons * 50 mpg = about 70 miles... it's like the bike doesn't use the last .7 gallons.

I dont worry until the 25+ range. I was at 20 today and was actually driving all around town to try and find pumps with separate hoses.

I fill up to the max everytime. I reset the trip meter and I managed to get 174 on a tank. I cruise at about 80MPH though. Baby it and you should be able to hit 200+. I routinly hit 35 miles with the light on.
