I just bought my wife a 2003 Blast, and the woman we bought it from said to make sure and shut off the fuel when it's parked. She said if we didn't, it could damage the bike. I cannot find anything to confirm that information, and I don't have to turn off the fuel on our Yamaha's.

Thanks,

I never had to do that on my old blast. just turn it off if you are messing with the fuel hose...but that is about it.

Only reason I can think of is if the fuel line would have a leak, and u'ed turn it off as to not leak all your fuel while parked.
Sounds like something an old timer told her as an FYI and she took it too seriously.

Just remember to turn it back on, or you won't get too far.

Maybe it leaks? That would be my only thought. My quad at home needs the same thing done or the entire house will smell like gasoline and it will only produce a few drips a week.
