i have a 07 uly bought in 08 out of warranty in may under 8,ooo miles and the fuel pump went out ! WTF[mad][mad] to top it off the pump at dealership is $360. I was wondering if anybody knows who makes the pump for harley and a part # to see if i can get it directly so i dont pay harley's fat mark up. i highly doubt that pump is made for buell only.

i dont know who makes it, but are you sure the pump is done and you dont have a bad connection, fuse, broken wire, or anything else? No disrespect to you but 8000 miles seems really low for it to go out.

i know and i'm frustraded. checked fuses and connection followed service manual to see if it was an ecm problem but plug is getting constant 12v and hooked light up to ground and it stayed lit for 4 sec just like its supposed to have not pulled pump out yet to see if it lost connection inside [confused]

I would try to pull the pump out. Rays posted how to remove the pump yourself. His write up was on a Ulysses so it will be dead on for the procedure. There have been a couple of people whos wire broke on the inside of the frame so might as well pull it. either way it has to come out.

Heres a link to the original post by Rays. It help me out hope it does the same for you

Fuel Pump

For those dollars I would definitely have a look at the pump yourself. Here is another link to another question about the low fuel level sensor and that shows the internal components.

It certainly sounds like the physical pump itself is bad - I would remove it to confirm that and if so go to your local car parts supplier and start hunting. I saw a post over on the UK BEG site where someone in Germany replaced the pump in an 1125 with a standard Bosch unit so if you are at all handy then I think this would be a straight-forward job.
Most of the parts are listed in the Buell parts books (regulator, filters etc) but the pump itself isn't.
Pulling the pump is a bit of a pain but completely doable for the average guy and can save you a literally 100's of $.

pulled pump assembly hooked it up to 12v supply and a little buzz and nothing but the pump getting hot. the good news it is a walbro pump wich is a commonly used oem manufacture. the pump stronly resembles a ford stlye pump. the great people at my local autozone were as helpful as a rock and would not get a pump out because the cross reference would not match what i had. walbro rep is supposed to get back with me monday instead of giving me a usable number he is going to see if they have any laying around, but at least he'll sell it to me without buying a whole assembelly for 360.00 so i shoundn't bitch but i want to ride without going broke getting back on the road

You might want to look into the emission warranty because it covers componets like the fuel pump for 18,641 miles or five years from date of purchase. I found this on buells website in a 2009 manual. I work at a metric dealer in California and we do it all the time.

"Buell Motor Company warrants that this vehicle is designed and built so as to conform at the time of sale with applicable regulations of the U.S. Federal Environmental Protection Agency, and that it is free from defects in materials and workmanship which would cause this motorcycle not to meet such U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Standards within five (5) years from initial retail purchase and delivery from an authorized Buell dealer, or five (5) years from the [second] anniversary of the last day of the model year of the motorcycle, or 18,641 miles (30,000 kilometers) whichever expires first. Any unexpired portion of this limited warranty will be transferred to subsequent owners, upon the resale of the motorcycle during the warranty period. If the motorcycle was used as a demonstrator, then the warranty period may have started and/or expired prior to the initial retail sale. See a Buell Dealer for details."

thanks dezerttunner the pump did fall under that warranty and they are ordering me a new one no questions asked :D:D:D
