Took an old screwdriver and modified it into a key for the Buell. Now I'm gangster.

Took the old screwdriver, heated the metal until I was able to pull it out of the handle.
Took a spare key and cut it to size, about the same width of the key, leaving the hole at the end.
Heated the key and forced it onto the handle.
Done. Looks like I jammed a screwdriver into my ignition.

Lol .... yeaaaa ... that's gonna get LOTS of nice attention ... till you explain that you didn't actually steal the bike you're riding at least ...

But serious points for creativity ... I've heard of this before but I've never seen anybody actually go through with it ...

Rotfl ... that looks great ... and that's not gonna be a challenge when you're riding a buell ... hahahahaha!!!

i was thinking of doing that for my chopper build. something you dont see too often. I think its pretty funny but lets us know if you do attract any unwanted attention..

I think thats pretty cool, I suppose it might get hijacked into a thread rant of Craftsman-vs-snap on or the other brands
(go on a chainsaw forum and interrupt the constant mud slinging of Stihl-vs-Husquvarna and ask
"What about McCullough?).

The only issues i see with the mod is that Over time, the more weight you put on the ignition switch/lock the more they wear out, One problem can be the key just falls out on hard acceleration, (the locks get worn out and eventually you can remove the key when on) and often the switchs get spotty in working.
I see it in cars more often especially with people with those monster key rings with 20,000 keys and dangly add ons on the rings. A friend at a dealership says they see that frequently as well.
But if you only use a stubby screw driver like that and dont hang your entire lifetime key collection on it you will probably be okay [up]

I showed a friend that happens to be a cop my 'mod' and what he thought - he thought it was cool and I should sell them.

He also stated that he wouldn't pull me over just for having that in my ignition. He said he would be suspicious if there were wires hanging out though...

It is a stubby screwdriver, so hopefully it doesn't wear out my ignition.

I showed these pics to some of my LEO buddies.... One stated "If I saw that, I would immediately think he stole the bike and act accordingly!!!" the other guy responded to him "Dude, you're such a ******* Nazi...If the guy explains himself, and shows me it's a key, I'd send him on his way."

I have to admit, when I saw the post title I thought it was going to be dumb but it turned out pretty cool. Just be careful sitting down when that's in your front pocket!

Need to have the tip of the screwdriver coming out the other side.
That's actually a cool idea as well.

OMF, I got 3 keys for my xbr and 3 for my xbs, who's got a hacksaw? No worries bro, I live in Canada so it's ok to steal your idea lol, no one will ever know. Looks cool. +Rep for you.

Thanks,
Banshee

"Is that buell key melded to a stubby screw driver in your pocket? Or are you just happy to see me?"
