Was cruising thru Tahoe this weekend and saw this. I didn't hit a bear, but once had a bird ricochet off my helmet. Do you have a animal/bike story?

hit a large racoon a few years back, ramped it got wobbly right before a 90 deg turn barely made it out of the turn. at the top of the next hill i got off the bike and took a long moment! we went back the next day to see if it was dead and one of my friends said "holy **** thats as big as a lab!!!!" Its funny cause now i live a half mile from that very spot and take that way about 4 times a day! reminds me of it as soon as i come out of the same 90.

This was a 12pt at 2:30am on a back road when I was in college. Luckily someone was coming the other direction down that road close enough to see some sparks, who knows how long I would've been sitting on that road by myself otherwise since it was pre-cellphone. All I ended up with was a gash in my left arm from the antler. I still have that jacket too, it's just sewn back together and patched up.

Hit a dog once on my Suzuki, somehow missed him with the front tire but got him with the rear,I bounced a few times then got the bike under control, stopped to check on the dog thinking it was dead but when I bent to see I got one of worst scares of my life,it jumped up and nearly got my face then ran off.

Had a Hawk about take out myself and helmet. Scared the crap out of me especially since it was in the apex of the corner. Thankfully I was lucky and didn't hit the hawk or him hit me.

Had a blue grouse go through my front wheel a few years ago. A THWACK!! A big explosion of feathers and a bad day for the bird......

The second or third day I had my XB, I was on my way home from a friends house at night, in the middle of town, and damn near hit a nice doe. I'm pretty sure theres still a pucker mark on my seat...

Just last week had a large doe jump over the fence and its head was right at the side of my face as I passed. I saw the light!!! My buddy behind me said the rear legs jumped over my rear tire then he had to jump on his brakes to keep from killing the baby doe. I promptly shut off the bike and re-evaluated life for a few mins on the side of the road [cool]

Having my gear on definitely saved me. The front and side of my helmet was all scraped up and there was a good size hole that was worn into my shoulder where the pad is. Both of those would've really hurt if it was my skin instead. If I remember right at least one of my gloves went flying in the process so I learned why it's important for gloves to fit right(tennis shoes definitely would've done the same thing.

i have had several close calls with deer but no contact. i ran over a turtle one day. caught up to a car on a corner and all of a sudden it appeared from under the car. I was following too close and learned a lesson, I was nervous and thought it was a big rock. I committed one of the "survivor reactions" and fixated on the turtle instead of swerving around it.

One other time I come out of a corner around 60 mph and see a big german shepard taking the angle to meet me at the road. WOT got me by him with a few feet to spare but i was not thrilled with the owner sitting in his yard doing nothing. This was on a 55mph road so I wasnt speeding that much before I saw the dog.

I am surprised extremelow isnt on here regailing us with his tale of the turkey... Isnt that what caused his last downing?
