gas cap

Hey folks! I have a dumb question! I just picked up a 2006 Blast. I cannot for the life of me get the fuel cap off! It does loosen, the rear pulls up like it wants to come off but it is caught up on the front of the opening somehow! Am I missing something? The factory service manual say's "turn a quarter turn ccw, and lift out. Doing that but it just wont release! Any thoughts? Do I need to take the outer ring off to see what's going on? Oh and where is the spark plug!! I would like to go through and change all the fluids and the like, it only has 1200 miles on it, just looking to do the required routine maintenance according to the service manual. I would spray a small amount of break-away into the key mechanism and work it back and forth to see if you can make any progress.

the blasts dont have locks on them u just flip it up and twist. u might be screwed. has it been sitting a while?

Not sure on how long it may have been sitting. What do you mean by "screwed". What am looking at..new tank, cap,cap housing?

Update: Removed outer alum. ring. worked cap out, had to do a little filing on the plastic retainer ring, clean up surrounding areas, good to go! Thanks for all's input!

Hey my wife has one as well and it was a bear to get out, I had to wiggle and pry lightly to get it out. When you do get it out the rubber on the sides will need to be filed down smooth a little bit to smooth them out. THis happened on a friends bike as well same issue. As for the spark plug, top of the cylinder, under the gastank, left side of the bike. Can't miss it. I'll go ahead and tell you though it uses a Harley-Davidson 10R12A spark plug.

My friend just bought 2 Blasts. one thing I noticed about the gas cap (after reading this post) is you need to twist it to the left to get it out, it doesn't just come straight up. I always put my CityX's cap on upside-down... that's annoying too.
