Man I wish we could stockpile gas because I'm loving the fact that we can fill two cars and a motorcycle up for around or less than $50........

I work in the construction industry in Houston, when gas prices fall work typically comes to a screeching halt

Too bad they weren't quite this low all summer (granted they weren't bad) love filling up these 2.

The correlation between gas prices as jobs laying off has always confused me, everyone has more money to spend and we buy bigger vehicles. We travel further, So why do jobs lay off because of lower fuel prices? You would think there would be a larger profit margin.....

regarding the US economy in general, lower energy(oil) costs always directly correlate to a higher GNP along with billions more in consumer spending. there will always be a few factions such as small pockets of construction related jobs and oil industry jobs that suffer during times of sub-$50 a barrel oil prices but in general the lower energy costs are the more robust our economy is. also keep in mind that all world currencies are based on the US dollar. a "stronger" US dollar hinges on many things but traditionally one is "reasonable" oil prices. unfortunately in most parts of the US when fuel prices decrease due to an excess of crude on the world-wide market that's the time the blood-sucking leaches and idiots AKA the politicians and political hacks....attempt and often succeed in adding yet more tax to a gallon of gas/diesel/heating oil/jet fuel. very tough for the consumer to have a winning hand in any of this.

High gas prices does suck, but I don't really understand the HUGE struggle people have due to it. I drive a lot (my 2010 ram has 130,000 miles on it) and although it gets pretty good gas mileage for a big truck, around 17 city and 21 hwy, whether gas is ~$1.70 like it is now, or ~$4.00 like it has been in the past, it's never really put a damper on my habits or bank account... I guess if you're driving a 10mpg guzzler yes, but even when gas is low that'd be expensive...

I also don't understand how people will sell a paid off truck that gets 15mpg and buy a $40k car that gets 40mpg, and somehow think they are saving money? Yeah, over a 15 year period....

I get about 14mpg city in my 2011 Ram and I love when gas is low. It's about a $100 difference per month when gas is high which I guess isn't too much but it is a little over a grand a year that could go into Buell instead.

On the other note they must have taken economics from Uncle Sam.
