Hello I'm new to the forum and not so new to my buell. I have to say that I am a little disappointed with the gaskets for the 20007 model year. This is my second buell from this year and again gaskets are failing! My xb12ss has just over 6k miles and the rear rocker box gasket is leaking! This seems a little ridiculous to me. My thought is: if I'm going to change it, under warranty or not, I'm going to put something better than OEM. I do not want to have this problem again in such a short time.
So my question is: What brand of aftermarket/performance gaskets do you buellaphile's suggest?

Other than that issue, I love my bike and wouldent trade it for any other!!! :)

Mine is doing the same thing, and I just hit 6,000 miles a week or two ago.[mad]
as the saying goes around my house when things like this come up "fuc%in Harley"... I still have some time left on warranty so I think I will let the dealer take care of this for me.

BTW be careful the cooling fan blows the oil out and right onto your back tire, how I found my leak, and it was no fun when the back tire went away in a corner on a nice hot day when the tires should have been very sticky.

I do agree on the cometic gaskets but $$$ also if you waranty the repair I dont know if the dealer will use aftermarket???

Spend the 45 bucks for the rocker box kit and tell the dealer to install them. Can't see how they'd object to that, and the warranty should cover the labor, which is the major cost.

Alright thanks I'm definitely going to get that gasket kit. And the shop where I bought it said they would cover all costs, all I have to do is pay the difference of the OEM and aftermarket gaskets. Its funny they even encouraged me to get something better. They were telling me that Harley is switching to metal gaskets on one of the big bikes, so I think they recognize they have a problem. Maybe in time it'll trickle down to buell.
Thanks again
