I had a track day this past weekend and I had a small spill in the dirt, nothing major. Replaced some parts and washed her off and she is good again. Finally got a long ride in today and the gears feel shorter and a bit more torque-e. Before the gears seemed to be a little longer in between revs with out effort. Now it seems that with a twist of the wrist it feels shorter and I feel the need to shift sooner.

I went down to on the shifter side and the shift looked to be bent in a little, but nothing major. Shifts fine. Thought I had a clutch issue, so I went to a local shop and they put it on the dyno and it came out with flying colors, least no clutch\transmission issue present.

Dyno:

Run_01 - Power = 83.12 \ Max Speed = 114.73

Run_02 - Power = 83.95 \ Max Speed = 114.94

Run_03 - Power = 84.24 \ Max Speed = 115.01

. I'm confused, something seems different. Could something have reset any computer settings on the impact? Would a TPS reset help possibly....does seem maybe throttle position changed?

Basically it seems more torque-e than before and gears seem shorter through acceleration. IM A NEWBIE...be kind. :)

If by "in the dirt" you mean fine sand maybe you got a quick port & polish job on the intake ports! But seriously I'd probably look for some kind of wiring issues or if you have an ECM spy link I'd look for a sensor reading funny, possibly a little data logging and address the sensor / wiring issue if there is one. If its running a little on the lean side it's going to be running on the mean side.

I believe there is fine sand in her dirty parts. Reset my TPS and she was back to the way I know her. But half way through a ride today, she went back to running lean. I did get a fair amount of sand in the re-route filter ( think that is what the K&N filter is for) got super dirty and I saw once she was hot...white smoke was coming from it.

Hopefully I just need to replace the filter, reset the TPS again and she should be good?

Dunno.

I'm skeptical that your crash caused any change in gearing or made your bike somehow more responsive. I'd suggest it's a perceptual change.

I am continually amazed at how the same bike on the same road can feel subtly different each time depending on my own frame of mind.

Much like drinking wine, the taste varies depending on the circumstance.

With those max speeds.... did they do your dyno pulls in 4th gear???

Off topic: I've heard some shops do dyno pulls in 4th gear.... is there an advantage to this???

Yep, they did the pulls in 4th gear. I'm not sure about advantages, but I thought I had a clutch/transmission issue since I feel there was a power difference before/after my spilling on the track. But they stuck it on the dyno to really see if there were any issues, and there wasn't...bike clutch/transmission is solid.

I did notice a difference in the throttle and rpms after i reset the TPS/AFV...and it felt like it did when I first got the bike, but after riding it, seems like it reset to a different setting. Hard to explain, think its a electrical/sensor thing and not mechanical.

Also, I use to be able to crank the bike in gear with the clutch pulled in. But now it will only start when its in neutral. Think I could fine sand on her dirty parts and she's pissed.

Cheers!

I typically over think my "problem" into reality today. Then tomorrow it's gone. These bikes will run a little different from day to day because of the AFV. I mind **** myself often. Like, I just read a thread about a knock knock noise and then I ask myself, " Ive heard that right? Hmm..." I'm learning to not think about it so much and be less anal retentive.
