So, since Iv gotten my Firebolt iv had to keep my iPod turned up all the way just to hear it over the rumble of the bike...hahaha I only wear one ear piece so I can still hear traffic, my bike, etc.. but man every couple days I have to change the earpiece to the other side cuzz im going deaf... Its OK its the good kinda pain:p And I still havn't decided on the Drummer/Jardine which to get. After that goes on I imagine I wont hear my iPod at all.

Wow, if your ears hurt with a stock pipe, your in for it. I had no problems with my stock pipe, but after I got my Jardine my hearing has gone down hill. Its a whole new world of ruckus. My pipe emits a low tone at about 2800 rpm's that plugs up my head in a way that the biggest helmet yawn cant fix. Its like instantly being on a mountain pass.

I wear my ipod as well, but both ear buds, and turned up all the way.I cann't hear the music very well if at all.I have the Jardine RT1 and it's loud as hell! If you want to run an aftermarket pipe, either the music goes or you turn it up all the way and your hearing slowly goes.I find that I yell and have ear ring for about 5-10 minutes after I get off the bike. You may want to try the Bose ear buds,I hear they work well, cost more, but what's your hearing worth to you.I'm going to be looking into some.[smirk]

I have some ear buds that are like the Bose but rated to be even better and I still have problems. I only do it on longer rides when I know I'll get tired of yelling/singing to myself in my helmet. Which brings me to a question..not trying to high-jack, but, does anyone else yell and curse at cars on the road knowing they will never hear you so thats why you do it?:p

No, I open my visor so they can see the anger in my eyes...lol. Occassionally I will rip past them close enough to knock their mirror outta wack...but only if they deserve it.

i either make a lot of gestures or plant my knee, foot, elbow in their car if they’re really asking for it.
luckely, that doesn't happen too often

first thing's first, about hearing, i pesonallly consider my buell's exhaust "music" but that's just me:D but are you using high quality earphones&ipod&quality recording? plus usind a helmet, "if you are not" should prove to be helpful, i have been a soung guru for 20+ year's when sound's that are unclear will cause ear fatuge making you deaf, quality sound even at higher sustained level's will not cause ear fatuge.

reminder of rider's road behaivior; every rider represent's the motorcyclist you know just like one bad cop give's all cop's a bad name. to help with motorcycle right's, unfair law's general respect for other's etc.... it is very important to set high standard's when it come's to our action's on the road as a motocyclist. :p

Ill agree our actions will reflect on us, but there is a just a general negative stigma towards motorcyclist(Tho its getting better) I stopped counting the number a bad looks I get in checkout lines, walking down sidewalk, just about anywhere in the general public I get while holding my helmet. Or just hanging out next to my bike at a burger joint. So when the cagies get that "I own the road" attitude, they get their mirrors turned.

I have a pair of the Bose buds and they aren't that great on a bike as they hang putting my helmet on and they don't stop enough ambient noise. I have a pair of JVC marshmello's that don't get pulled out when putting on my helmet and they expand in the ear canal well to seal out ambient noise. With a mixer from Radio Shack they can also carry audio from your radar detector.
