Go with led, Less problems and hassles. I work for a car dealership and we have done HID kits for a while. I just switched to led's after all the problems with ballast and bulbs. Hard to find a good product these days. Sure I can get them swaped out, but its just not worth it anymore.

I used to use DDM until ballasts starting going bad very frequently. Switched to The Retrofit Source and couldn't be happier.

I went with DDM for my lightning, almost right away I noticed one of my ballasts was bad, they replaced it immediately and I haven't had a problem for almost 2 full seasons of riding everyday.

Where did you purchase the LED kits. Been thinking of going this route on my vehicles...

The one we get from our distributor are from China...everythings made there these days I guess. I have purchase sets off of e-bay and the are all the same. My wife has had hers in her van for a year and no problems. Her HID's I worked on constantly. Retrosource HID's would be the best if you go that route.

Anyone know how the draw from the starter affects the led lights when they are on? I know its really bad to have hid lights on when you start your motorcycle, I think it has something to do with the ballast? I have had people suggest a timed relay etc. I believe This is the reason why so many people have problems with hid lights on a motorcycle. I saw a guy use some sort of rpm trigger on his DRZ to turn the headlights on when the rpms reached over I think 800 rpm. Seemed like a good way to go but I think he had to build a circuit board with a chip to realize the rpm signal etc.

If the led lights are not affected by the starting of the bike I think I would like to switch to led lights. I do notice in the above thread he states that the led lights use a ballast as well tho.

The led's don't draw that much power. I believe the added component steps down the voltage unlike an HID ballast that ups it. Without seeing a schematic for it I can't say for sure.
