Well friends, the time has finally come. The time to say good-bye to my beloved 2005 Buell XB12R...

A few weeks ago, I purchased a bike that I've been wanting for close to over a year now - a 2007 BMW R1200S. Two-cylinder 1170cc, naked street bike. 122ish HP, 8.5kRPM redline, 6speed, 2728 miles. After just a few days of negotiations, I picked her up in Knoxville and trailered her all the way back home to eastern NC.

With the purchase of a second motorcycle and due to not having much space at all (although two bikes do fit) I went ahead and listed the XB for sale. While the R was listed, I continued to enjoy the daily commute to work and was really second guessing my decision to put her up for sale. She's been a great first bike. She handles very well, never too fussy, plenty of power and gobs of torque, easy to modify and make my own, comfortable... The list goes on and on. One day during some airlift certifications I marveled at her: her black body, amber accents, and polished headers looking even more gorgeous on that bright sunny day. What have I done? ...

And before I knew it, I had lots of nibbles and one single bite that was reeled in. Reluctantly we reached an agreement that I felt more at ease with and today handed over the title in exchange for a nice check... The bike will be picked up later on next week...

I've been riding the BMW exclusively all week and I really miss the rawness of the XB, the short wheel base, the grunt, the sound, the ride-ability....Shoes that I feel the BMW may never fill, or at least completely...

For now I will make the best of it and grow to love the new girl - the looks she already has, now she just has to get ridden!

Here's the single shot I have of the new gal:

I will continue to remain a part of this awesome community and chime in every once in a while - who knows, I may even be back in a few months if the R1200S doesn't work out...maybe a CR this time.

Additionally, there are a few items which did not go with the bike, namely the S tail, the 1125R mirrors, and the Zepto LED turnsignals... there may be a few more, I'll have to go through my parts later on, but those are the big items. Feel free to PM me on any of these. I will probably end up making a separate FS thread for those at a later time.

:( sorry to hear about the buell and congrats on the new bike.the R1200S is a great bike enjoy and ride safe.

That head shot of the R in front of those doors is maybe my favorite Firebolt pic. yet. Somebody got a sweet bike.
Sorry for your loss, but congrats on the new ride. My Dad was just telling me I should ditch my Buell for a B'mer. He always drove a Gold Wing but coveted any and all BMWs...

If you're already talking about a CR - you KNOW it's gonna happen ; ) Don't fight it!

I almost bought a CR last fall - not fighting it...just delaying :)

Thanks for the kind words about my 'R!

Congratulations on the new ride. Sorry to see the buell go but its about what makes you happy. Great looking bike. They really made them look nice when they went to that body style. I really loved the HP2 sport they made

I disagree, i think theyre ugly. And yoyr sur are a traitor!

Jk, but still sounds like you already regret the change. I hate my XB but at the same time i keep it because its so different than anything out there, nothing to do with bigger better badder or faster. After so many bikes, horsepower and going fast arent the factors in choosing the next one.

Youll be back, seen it happen before.

Sorry to see ya go, Sirius. You were/are a great board member here. Hope to see ya back.

I just sold my xb12s too.... I miss it already. Although I picked up an 1125cr haha. I'm sure one day you will be back on a buell it's hard to leave them.

I was waiting for that :D

its not for everyone but it was a huge improvement over the first generation ones

those ones were bulbous and gigantic.
I'll always have a Buell, no doubt about that.

Nice bike but I'm sure you'll be back to Buell. ;)

That's what happened to me. Had a 2008 XB12XT for a year. Looking back it was my biggest bike mistake getting rid of it. However recently bought a 2009 XB12Scg with just over 1,000 miles on it and glad I'm back in the family. :D

Good luck with the new bike and congrats!

(And don't mind the haters on Facebook. :p )

I saw your bike on craigslist. I'm in Yadkinville. My XB is just like that one with the exception of the tail which I envy you for and so want to do to mine

Aesthetically, Beemers are definitely an acquired taste, not unlike Buells!

Oh well, the only view that really matters is the one from behind the handle bars! :D

Well she's officially gone.

Damn she sounded good going down the road :)

Is it bad to be that attached to a bike...I need a beer!

That attached? You're talking to a forum full of guys not willing to part with 'em lol!
