I am in the process of doing alot of mods to my Lightning and adding HID's is one of them. I know there is ALOT of junk kits on ebay so I was wondering what brand of kits are guys running in their Buells?

Im going with a dual 55ww 8000k system. Would you recommend adding the optional "hid harness" that DDM offers with the kit? Fyi: I am doing the 15-30sec relay conversion for this kit.

I dont use the extra hid harness or the relay and have had them for 4 years

Had ddm in my Xb when I bought it and any little bumb in the road would make them shut off. Pulled them out and put brighter halogen bulbs in. Just as bright and more resistant to wheelies.

I got mine off ebay 35w HID for $57.00 and did delay, works great and no problems. Don't need to spend a lot they all work the same .

I have a kensun 35 watt kit that I put in my uly and I couldn't be happier. I still want to install a timed relay cause sometimes after cranking the hid turns itself off as a safety from the constant off/on that happens during starting.

Great kit tho and has metal mini ballasts. I think I paid $60 on amazon with free 2 day prime shipping.

Race Sport makes a nice kit

I'll go ahead and second that. I bought a Race Sport kit 2-3 years ago as an experiment on my Hayabusa. They worked flawlessly the entire time they were on that bike. The ballasts were 100% reliable, the weather-proof seals on the wiring were indeed 100% weatherproof (I rode MANY times in the rain with that bike), the bulbs were BRIGHT, the color temp advertised was accurate and I never had a failure. I took the system off my Busa when I sold it and I liked it enough to track down the proper size bulb for my XB and reuse the ballast even though could have just purchased a whole new E-bay kit for about the same $. I LOVE it on my XB and there is definitely a difference in light output of my 35W setup vs. a 'premium' 55W halogen bulb (tried it, wasn't happy).

As far as 35w vs 55w?
35w is PLENTY, it's pretty comparable to riding around with your brights on w/ std. bulbs. Any more is just going to blind everyone who comes at you. My $.02 :p
