As I have read many bad experiences from other posts about going into Harley dealers looking for a Buell. Does anyone have any experience in the Greater Sacramento area with the dealers around here?

Yes, Fremont, CA (Faultline HD), was a bad one... They ACTED like they wanted to help, but kept trying to get me to buy another color / model.

I went in, knowing what I wanted, did a down payment, and a month and a half later, I still was no closer to having my '09 lightning. dave_xb12r passed my name to the guys at the Salinas dealer, who then called me. I moved my downpayment out of fremont, down to salinas, and a week later i was riding my new buell!

I'm in Tracy, CA. Anyone have any experience with Eagle's Nest Harley Davidson in Lathrop? or Livermore HD?

BTW this is my first post I have been lurking for a while and plan on buying a Buell XB12Ss when I get a chance to sell my vstar.

Although I didn't buy from Folsom's HD dealership, I got very close. They offered me a deal that I had a hard time turning down. They were one of the better dealerships I've been into. If I lived in that area, I'd buy from them

I had my first service done at Livermore HD, no complaints there... When I was shopping for my XB12Ss, Livermore recommended, Eagle's Nest, saying they were pretty large and might have a better selection of buells...

Never been to Eagle's Nest though

Hey there,

I bought a 2006 XB12SS from Rocklin Harley (owner of Folsom Harley as well). My brother bought the Firebolt at the same time. So I have two Buells to speak from experiences. I also own a 2009 Fat Bob that I recently bought from them.

Over all I give them a 6/10 rating on service and a 9/10 with sales. Talk to Jim Hall (Rcklin) if you go there, he's a pretty cool guy and doesn't seem to hide anything.

I've had numerous experiences where service tells you one thing and do another (Mostly rocklin). I'v herd that the service manager is the same for both stores but I tend to have better luck at Folsom. As long as you understand that there are issues with service and can be prepared for it you should be fine.

When you call to make an appointment they'll schudule you to come in but they might not get to your bike for a week or so, depending on how busy they are. Often they don't have repair parts in stock so they wait a week, tear it apart, then order you parts (another week) then kick your bike out pretty quick once parts get in.

Note that Sacramento Harley does not work on Buells so major services are some what limited to choices and are very exspensive (compared to Jap bikes).

Overall, I love the experience that I have had with owning a Buell. Servie is not easy and if this is going to be your only ride be prepared to have downtime.

Jap bikes are a lot easier to deal with in the area but buells offer a unique experience.

Hope this helps!
Adam

I bought my bike from the folsom Stealership, and had my first service there, needless to say it will never go back there for scheduled service. Since then i have done my business with Rocklin and have found the people there to be very nice and pretty helpful, Of course at the parts desk, they don't know very much about so you always end up answering like 10 questions about how awesome your bike is... And thats all well and good i think.

Sacramento Harley is useless for buellers.

When i was shopping around for my bike, I emailed all the deallerships with 100 miles, and of all of the Eagles Nest (Lathrop or Lodi i always forget) seemed the most willing to work for my business. Both Folsom and Rocklin didn't really care to help me find the bike i wanted (I guess they do so well with harley's what $11,000 to them?) ha ha.

It's easier to buy from them if you look at it this way though...

You arn't "Buying a bike" you are "Liberating a Prisoner from the clutches of the feindish stealership" Once you ride her off the lot. you will know that you made the right decission.

Too funny Jack!

I've found that the folsom shop has a service guy that went thru the Buell mechanic program but he's not there all the time. I've called in the past to make sure he's there when i shop up to ask questions.

Just know that in our area it's a struggle to make anything easy.

I got hit at a red light while just sitting there for the light to turn green. My rear swing arm got a scratch and it took them five months to get in a new swing arm, no joke!

Harley has the worst service out of any shop I have ever been to. I prefer to take my bike elsewhere except for major services.

Ahhh.......It's a love/hate relationship.

ADAM, where do you get your service done? Care for a little word of mouth advertising?

Kajer, I have heard a lot of good things about Eagle's Nest HD. I was hoping to check out the bbq or whatever it was that they had going on last weekend. Good to know they have a better selection of Buells, that will be my first visit. Only 20 minutes away too!
Here's what I ride now:

I'm hoping to have a Buell in the garage early next year. Either parked next to the v-star or taking the place of...

Jack,

I've got my tires done at Preformance cycle off auburn blvd (install only). They seem to be about a 1/2hr cheaper on labor than Harley and there quick to get you in. I go to sui-cycle extreme off Auburn blvd for tires. There tires are the cheapest in town. I usually get most replacment parts online or thru Harley when I have to (Folsom usually). I've heard that Roseville cycle has good prices on tires as well and labor is competitive, thats where a couple of friends go.

Harlet takes too long for anythig so I looked elsewhere!

Straight to the point, in San Diego area, Sweetwater harley sucks a$$. There customer service is garbage and the mechanics are sub-standard if that. Had a 1996 softail I had bought used and brought it there for safty insp. they failed to tell me I had no brake fluids in my resevoir which led me to think what else they didn't check. Then about 6 months later I was in the market for a buell they tried to sell me a used 2004 for $9995 and this was in 2008. They even refused a more reasonable offer. Needless to say I ended up buying from San Diego Harley and got a sweet deal on an 08, 0 mil. for the same price. I'm sorry, tried to get straight to the point. H-D SWEETWATER=GARBAGE, H-D SAN DIEGO=GOOD.
