I thought it would be pertinent to get this out there to avoid any futher crashes for people. Buying the GSXR levers and converting them to fit our Buells has become a common DIY to save some cash. However, if they are not ground down enough such that they still contact the master cylinder, it can cause the front brake to lock up while riding. Thankfully there have been relatively minor injuries thus far. However, it is not any stretch of the imagination that this could potentially cause a fatality.

Given that this mod has such a high level of risk associated with it, I would highly suggest users pay the extra couple of dollars instead of ending up paying medical bills.

Makes no damn since anymore anyways. There's a ton of Buell specific cheap levers available now (even the same as the GSXR levers, but fit our rides for the same price).

~Mike....

This goes with ALL levers that put some pressure on the master cylinder rubber button!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought 2009 levers for my 2008 and had this happen! Always be careful guys!

even though it says it will fit our bikes i'm still leary....I found a seller on ebay advertising his levers fit our buells...well it turns out they did not fit my firebolt, and i had to grind it down to make it work...

I will buy some pazzo's once i have the $$$ for them though!

i bought the ride it levers. they fit great and they are for a buell so there isnt any worry about the wheel locking up

Mine are from China and were said to be for Buells. It fit right into place but I ground and rounded off the point anyway. Haven't had any problems.

This goes with ALL levers
always always every time you change your levers on any bike check the contact point with master cylinder for full engagement and release.

HELLO, their not buell reservoirs they are harley, the calipers are buell. New levers are going to be grinded to fit. Some pressure is not ok, there is a hair of play in the button, not pressure.

99 to 04 R1 levers are the same... "not they fit", they are the SAME.

Anyone else have thoughts on this? I've been needing a brake lever and it's hard to find Buell parts locally, and I'm not to keen on buying online (I'm a little old fashioned).
