I'm looking at a ulysses with the skinnier all black factory hard cases. I hear they're called the city cases. Will the brackets for those work for the full size gray and black factory cases? The pics I've seen online of each case back look different but I have read no mention of the 2 different kinds of bracket.

Thanks again :)

The journey and junior bags attach differently.. journey(uly)bags clamp towards the front of the rack, and the juniors clamp toward the back of the rack(standard hepco config.).. the juniors only came stock on the uly police editions, so I think the racks might be obsolete, you might call SW Motech or hepco to see(post-up what you find).. I have seen the uly racks modified to accept the juniors(or sportsmans as buell called them)by cutting the clamp hoops off the front and re-attaching them to the rear. I have the junior 40's on one of my lightnings on hepco quick lock/release racks that I bought from SW motech.

they're great bags, they hold alot of junk. i dont know that they're much narrower than the standards. One draw back ive found is the seem to sun fade a lil. I beleive BUell originally called them the "Outdoorsman" cases

The kit for the Uly from buell comes with a turn signal relocation bracket as well. I bought the top and side case kit from Buell/HD when i bought my bike in 08 i beleive it was about $1200 ( i know thats out rageous) i think the side case kit was $700 by itself

You know, I think you might be right BuellyBagger!, I have seen the "sportsman" tag somewhere though.. not sure where. maybe it's a set that mounts like stock uly journeys.. I dunno'

Yeah, totally over the top for what you get.. more Harley "fleece you for all they can, ********"... all the hardbag/rack combo's for other brands out there are 30-50% less costly.. go figure

I've said it before and I'll say it again, harley execs. get million dollar bonuses every year, stock options, etc... & several millions in CEO Kieth Wandells case, all while they constantly outsource production over-seas and cheat American workers out of hours, benefits, opportunity, etc. The epitome of corporate greed.. I'm still not over the taxpayer bailout in 08' in which we as taxpayers, funded Wandells uncompromised bonuses, while Buell got shut down..

I'll never ride the HD "birthing" position, so far from "cool" anymore

10-15-09 never forget

U make me chuckle thumpin. I cant say that i diagree at all, but you have to admit that its ur evry day consumer that is the reason Harley is the way it is. Merchandise and fancy dealerships are way better selling points than engineering and creativity and that my freind is why they sh*t canned our brand and why chevrolet still sells cars! (sorry had to throw a GM stab in there)

Yeah Buelly, all true! HA.. I better stop before I get started, just might go postal. Can't resist tho'.. check the "teeny tiny little hidden tags" on hardly motorclothes.. yup, made in china.. they're becoming another chinese distribution center just like walmart..

I could go on for days, but this isn't badweb, so I'll step-down off my soapbox.. LOL!

BIG PROPS to EBR for making everything they can in-house with local craftsman!!

Thumpin, That looks like you have a Ventura rack installed with the HB mounts, correct or am I crazy? If I'm not high, do you have any pics of the set up without the bags on? I'm thinking about this same rig for my STT and would like input on how it works and how you fabbed it up. I've scrounged the web for install sheets for both systems and from what I've found it looks like it would be pretty easy with just a hand full of longer bolts. TIA

Hey BigEasy... the ventura rack comes with longer bolts, (2ea) for the forward and rearward mounts.. the sidecase brackets and ventura rack use the pass. peg holes without any conflict.. it's a simple and sweet setup + the "lock-it" racks remove instantly with (3) robust 1/4 turn fasteners. Two set screws get loosened and the ventura "rack" is replaced with a "grab bar". With this set-up I can go from full luggage system to nearly stock in 2 minutes. To install on your stt, you would have to re-position the front mount 2 or so inches rearward & drill one mount hole. you would also use the ventura rack for the "S" model...it would be quite easy.
