Like usual guys are trying to get me on a Harley and I was told Harley has a sport bike now and I can't find it..anyone know??

the xr1200 is I believe the closest thing to a sport bike that harley makes. I'm not a huge fan of it, it's just a step in the right direction, not even close to a real sport bike.

I thought there was a post on here awhile back about plans for an entry level bike, but can't remember if that was just a Harley pipe dream or something in the works. Slept since then.

Ya that 1200 looks pretty lame...he was explaining it like It looked like a x1 Idk..I Googled it and there was a triumph w/ hd paint. But he claims it was at the local dealer. No clue

I read somewhere there haveing some korean company maybe ? Make a similar bike to the blast for a entry level bike. I dont think it had hd badges though

I'd doubt harley would come out with a sport bike. I still remember the day they got rid of buell and the harley representative said "who wants to ride a sport bike anyway!". Talk about closed minded...

Xr1200x > xr1200 but not by much. Mostly just suspension changes. I almost bought one but realized I wouldn't be happy unless I was back on a buell. I made the right choice.

S&T motorcycles, the Korean manufacturer of the Hyosung brand motorcycles will be working directly with ATK motorcycles, the US manufacturer of dirt bikes. Together they will produce a motorcycle that will be largely produced in Korea by Hyosung and assembled in the USA by ATK. These ATK-badged motorcycles will be smaller displacement motorcycles that will be sold in selected Harley-Davidson dealerships.

ATK may also begin selling their off-road motorcycles in some Harley dealerships as well. It is not yet entirely clear which of the ATK-badged Hyosungs will be made available to the Harley Dealers, although the new 700cc Aquila is a likely candidate.

They'll get the same support Buellers got, but I'd guess it might even be less. How many HD mechanics do you see as willing to work on foreign bikes and do it without totally effing it up?

I looked up specs on the xr1200 its like 90hp not even cloee to stock buell specs, my buddies always try to get me on a harley, I told them harleys are for boring ass riders they just dont get it they always try to jump at me when were going to work so I show them my taillight in the distance, I wanna race a vrod!

First off, Harley should be ashamed of using the legendary XR name on that XR1200 POS. The XR750 was one of the baddest bikes HD ever made. It was strictly a flat tracker; however, there were only a few that were released as street legal flat trackers (street trackers). The XR1200 is a bloated "tribute" to the legendary XR750.

Many Harley guys would consider the XR1200 a sport bike because a lot of those guys have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to motorcycles. Go ahead, ask some HD guys some time about their bikes. In fact, ask them about the XR750! Ask them about the great movie "On Any Sunday." Many just know that they bought the "best one on the show room floor" because it had the most chrome and a cool "custom" flame or skull paint job. Lol They have no idea how many pots their calipers have or even what type of oil they use. They simply drop off the bikes at the dealership and tell them to "give it the works..." heh heh. They won't hesitate to bash all those not on a HD though. I like all motorcycles regardless of make or model. Some may not be for me, but I still enjoy reading and talking about them because they all have unique aspects. I applaud those riders who are learning and buy inexpensive, Shadows, Hyosungs, Blasts, etc. and I don't hesitate to throw them a MC wave or nod. They're out there dealing with the same crap we all deal with on the road and regardless of the bike under them, they're still motorcyclists.

Off soap box now... :)

You would need to put a fat chick on the back of your bike, and only go in a straight line to make it a fair race.... Those VRODs are quite portly... IIRC, they make around 120HP, 85 ftlb tq but weigh in at almost 700 pounds.

I've never officially raced one.... I've squeaked by a few from stop light to stop light on my stockish tuber. There is no comparison in the twisties....

FWIW, I would like to have a VROD in addition to my Buell. As I understand it, now that Buell is gone, a lot of the HD guys now hate the VROD. I also like the XR1200 too.

I love all bikes. Especially every bike I've owned. None even come close to my M2 though.

Ha Ya so I figured out what bike my buddy was talking about its was the vrod..its got one big head light like a buell..its a nice bike but I like more sport. God I'm sick of the hd guys given me shit.

BTW, the VROD engine was originally developed by Erik Buell/Buell Motorcycles... At least according to Wikipedia...
The liquid-cooled Harley V-Rod motor, developed by Harley-Davidson then made street legal according to the EPA by Porsche, was originally an Erik Buell project, designed for a fully faired AMA Superbike Buell by 1998.[8] Harley decided the engine should also be used in a sport-cruiser, then took over development, making it "too big, too heavy, too expensive and too late" for Buell.[8]

I have a former military contact that has a road king, and his idea of moding it, is adding more chrome, a set of pipes, a bell, some chrome racks on the back...etc etc etc...I asked him how this is any different than the mini trucks we used to bitch about down in central/south america, with the tiny rims, chrome strips on the windows, and chrome bumpers...he said almost exactly what someone posted up above. "Scotty, I bought the baddest bike they had on the floor, and now Im just making it better". I asked him what engine it had, or if he had any plans to remap the ECU for the pipes he ordered, and screaming eagle intake. He looked at me like a dear in the headlights.

This is the same guy who told me that to choose be a Boatswain Mate in the navy, you had to have a higher ASVAB score than a SPEC WAR Operations Specialist in the SWCC units when I was on a ship for source rate training... For you navy guys, this should put this guys intelligence in perspective. At the time of the comment, he had just put on Chief Anchors... He ended up going into the riverines, and retired from there.

For those non-navy types, a Boatswain Mate is what you become by default when you either do not qualify for anything else, or you do not choose a source rating prior to enlisting/in bootcamp, once you reach the rank of E4.

Sorry for derailing the topic with my rant.

Oh yeah, can't forget that bell! Sine guys I know made a big hooplah presentation ceremony when they honored a guy who finally got rid of his non harley, got a new harley, and was now able to ride with them.

I wLked away from a decent xb deal because the original owner was a chopper guy and made his own exhaust because he wanted it loud but had no idea about tuning the Ecu, oil changes, or other simple maintenance items when I asked.
