I have an xb12r and I'm thinking about buying a new Harley street 750 also. I've read a lot of reviews on it. I've seen it in person. At 7500$ it seems like a good buy. Has anyone rode them? Any thoughts on them?

I think it really depends on how you want to use it. It'll be substantially underpowered compared to your XB, & it won't handle near as well, but if it's just for putzin around town on, you may find it suitable, but I think there's better value machines out there that'll do a better job too...

One of the issues is I try my best to buy American made. That leaves very few choices in the motorcycle world.

very smooth...nice torque throughout rev range...fairly comfy...decent brakes and suspension....fuel smoothly....decent fit and finish. for better or worse, as mentioned above there seems to be a jap resurgence in the same price range and there's some phenomenal deals out there right now. IMO the big-4 have much better machines offering better value and tech @ street 750 prices.

They sound like a little 1125r or v rod. It's basically the v-rod motor. Pretty cool, yet ugly bike. But so are fizzers. Hell so was the 1125. Still a cool bike though.

I asked the Harley guys and they say the bike is built here and the ones that are sold in India are assembled there but all the parts are from here.

Rajputana customs :D

I rode the 750 last year. had it up to 80mph or so. It's basically a small v rod.

My only complaint is the brakes. Weak!
The trans was great and everything else was acceptable far as motorcycles go.

I agree with FZ-09 over a street 750

its built in India

The US domestic market bikes are assembled here in the states. At the Kansas City plant actually.

For the manufacture origin of the parts - they have it wrong. The majority of the parts come from India with a few exceptions such as the frame is now from Vietnam.

The parts for the domestic bikes are shipped from India to the USA as a "reverse CKD" operation. The domestic & North American bound bikes are assembled at the KC plant.

There is an assembly plant in India that feeds bikes to Japan, some parts of Europe and their own domestic market.

Bought a new Harley 750 street. Its pretty cool. My Buell is at Harley in Dothan AL if anyone is interested in it.

I agree the FZ-09 is awesome. But a bike that would compete with the Harley 750 might be the Indian Scout. I rode one at a demo and its a nice bike. I think they are a little bit more money though. I see you already bought the 750 though so good luck.

Ive been to Dothan. Spent a couple weeks living at the holiday inn while we did a job at the paper mill in Cedar Springs. Hunt's Seafood was a regular stop for us, and I even made it to the peanut festival. Boiled peanuts suck by the way.

I'm from Indiana so it took me awhile to appreciate the boiled peanuts. Kind of weird enjoying the taste of soft warm salty nuts.
