My dad just picked one of these up with a little influence from myself. He didn't want a buell, its a little too sporty for the 63 year old....lol. So I talked him out of his 1100 V-Star and into the XR1200.
I took it out for a spin and man I can't get over how much it feels like a Buell. I have an 08 XB12Ss and the XR1200 riding position is spot on to the Buell. The power is there despite the lower HP numbers. It feels a lot heavier in the parking lot but on the road its not as noticeable. I also find the XR is more forgiving when it comes to the steering. Meaning the Buell responses to the slightest input but the XR is not as twitchy. Other than that this bike is a close relative.
At the local coffee shop the other night guys were heading towards my Buell which I am accustomed to them flocking around to look at something different but they passed mine and went straight to the XR and you could hear them saying " I didn't know Harley made a bike like this"...Too funny.
