I am trying to wire up my HID kit this way but I am confused aboNow that HID lighting has become VERY reasonable, we all want them, but at the same time, we need to protect our investment from premature wear and possible damage.

Also, I have a lightning, where somebody designed the lights to be one at a time. Most of us have modded the circuit to be "both on" or wire the low-beam light to an always on source. This is functional, but not sufficient for HID lighting.

I will show you how I re-wired my setup to be HID friendly.

Lets start with the stock left hand light controls.

The lightning gets a steady +12V source from the blue wire, and returns the voltage to the yellow (low beam) or the white (high beam), but NOT BOTH. The flash switch is just a momentary switch to supply power to the high beam.

Now to the fun part. I needed that momentary switch to have a dedicated return path, so I modded my harness to this.

ut thes wireing schematics. I can't find any wire configuration like this.

I did the mod...

I'll post later...

The man himself. I feel kinda stupid here. I am mechanically inclined but do not understand where the wires in the first set (Blue, yellow, white)I see them in a different harness but they do not lead to headlights. I'm sure its something simple I am overlooking but I have stared, walked away a couple times and I don't get it [mad]

This is what i'm working with. I have the 2 harnesses pulled out, and I'm holding the dpdt relay.

If anyone can confirm I would greatly appreciate it. I don't want to start cutting the wrong wires.[confused]

so... in the wires going to the LH controls...

Blue is always on +12
White is the path to High
Yellow is the path to Low

The harness going to the light assembly...
White is High
Orange is Park (always on)
Black is Ground...

In the LH control...
I separated the flash switch from the white wire and cut the yellow completely. This way the flash switch does nothing and the hi/low switch os only a On/off switch for high beam.

I connected the flash switch to the yellow wire I had cut (going to the low beam light) so I can supply a momentary +12 down the yellow wire.

In the front of the bike...

The orange wire is connected to BOTH normal open contacts, the coil+ is connected one of the common legs and to the yellow wire. This is the voltage that will click the relay closed. and as long as there is +12 on the orange, the relay will stay closed. the other common leg is connected to the low-beam light, so when the relay is closed, voltage goes to the low beam HID

hope this helps?
