Since I'm going to have my gauge cluster apart to swap the faceplate anyway, I thought I might swap the orange needles on my XB9SX to a different style of white or red needles. I've found plenty of needle sets on ebay for domestic pickups and was wondering if they could simply be swapped in.

Does anyone have any info in regards to this?

All help help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kev

In reference to your pm s0dhi, i painted my stock needles black. Did it while changing out the gauge face. I was thinking about painting the tips of them some sort of neon color so they're easier to see. EZ mod to do though[up]

Small thread jack, i made about 15 sets of speedo rings a few years ago and sold them to forum members. I might have a few sets left, i'll have to look.

Enemy Zero: I might just pick up some needles and give it a shot.

Loki: Yes, in Canada... in the GTA.

JOEL9: I didn't even think of painting the existing ones; that might be an option.

I used LIGHT sanding on the needles for my pickup to get the orange/yellow off. The plan was red model paint.

Turns out, sanded plastic makes for a frosted white needle, which looks great when lit by the LEDs I'd swapped into the cluster.

I was told to use nail polish remover on the oem needle paint, but it made the plastic REALLY brittle. I was glad I had a spare cluster to steal needles from.
