Hello All, im fairly new into the forum world. Besides that i am girl. im started some minor/moderarte issues with 05' XB12R my friend and i went for a ride the other day and when i was acelerating it all of a sudden felt like it misfired once or twice. i attempted to re-produce the misfire, i accelerated again and it popped\ or misfired again but after that, its bin running perfectly fine. Even at idle..? i reved it all the way up to 5700 and nothing. the second time i tried it just died and i had a rather hard time starting it. soo im lost... just a lil info on my bike it is an 05 firebolt XB12r. i have ECM spy but i only used it for a TPS reset.. w/ Hawk muffler, Ngk DCPR9Eix plugs, K&N air filter, everything else is stock. i only run premium fuel. it has 5500 miles on it. i change the oil and filter every 1500-1800 miles with mobil 20/50 v-twin.alond with HD Transmission oil whenever i change the oil.

so today i changed the plugs again, and cleaned the throttle body just for safety measures, and tommorow we'll see how she runs. but other than that im LOST, someone please help if possible :)

So here's an update- replaced plugs fired right over with no hesitation.Revs up nice and smooth no breaking up nodda... could the current modifications cause the bike to randomly foul out the plugs? or am i over-thinking...??[sad]

So I took her out for a memorial bike rally today she ran flawlessly 60 miles until the trip home, between 3-5k Rpms it starting sputter then died. It didn't it like 3 different times the same popping I was having the other day. Like 3 miles on the initial trek home, Soo now really lost. Where do I start? CPS, coil pack, ecm. There are no CEL codes. [confused][down]

Sorry added note - it will start right up and idle fine , rev perfectly fine . But I'll get .like a 1/4 mile down the road when it starts to act up.

Look at the link I put up there earlier. Read the symptoms described there. Not saying that's really it, but it sure sounds like it and mine is doing the same thing. I have a CPS on order, it will be here Tuesday.

I got mine locally at gateway-hd. If you need to order one, Surdyke usually has cheaper prices online. I was going to try picking it up even closer to home at another dealer, but they're absolutely f*cking useless and I quote "we can't order buell parts" even though mine was an 03 and cross referenced to a sportster CPS with the exact same number.

I __think__ that's the right part number, DOUBLE CHECK before you order it. Call your local Buell friendly dealer and have them look it up or check in a parts book for your year model.

:) so I ordered a new CPS today $165 w/ tax but it is special order only so I won't get the part till Fridayish. I really hope this cure the issue.

I get random pops while idling. I didn't really think it was a big deal and now that you mention it, its kind of starting to worry me. Let me know if you are able to resolve your issue.

You did say while idling correct ?? Do you have a service manual ? It might be a different issue for you. Does it break up and shut off anywhere between 3-5k Rpms ?

Well, I think I found the guilty party on mine.

Rough marked the original timing.

Some damage...

From the looks of it, someone drilled into it at some point and cracked the sensor. I don't know why it would be damaged here though, it's not where the rivets are located. Anyway, it's headed out for a test ride shortly.

Back from the ride, looks like that was it. Ran pretty smoothly for a lumpy V-twin. No stuttering at all, so I'm calling it good for now. Plenty of power on tap for a lil bitty 9. Need to hit the local dyno again pretty soon.

Awesome ! I'm still waiting for mine to come they say earliest at Friday possibly. But congrats! Thanks again for that link btw.
