i need help i am no mechanic. i got a 2008 1125r, when i first got it, it had a little trouble turning over. i would hear it try to crank a few times and then it would fire up. today however it tried a couple times and i could hear it getting weaker and weaker. Then it didnt try any more and now only the relay clicks when i hit the ignition switch. it still lights up and all the gaudges work. it seems the battery works, i do get a low battery light however. Im just kinda lost. i tried to jump it and it didnt work.

Welcome to the forum, let's see pictures of the beauty!

Sorry to hear you are having problems already, how many miles are on it? I'd suggest checking your cables and connections, especially grounds. Also, invest in a Battery Tender. It can be found at most auto parts stores as well. Plug it in every other night or however much you feel is right so as to keep the battery charged, but not overworked.

If that doesn't do the trick for you, this forum's search function (far left under the ads at the top of the page) can be very useful for most of your questions.

Always use the killswitch to switch off the engine and when parked up, don't just use the key - there was a parasitic drain on the battery attributed to the IC software on 2008 models. Using the killswitch prevented it. IIRC there was an update to the offending software - ask a dealer if they can check the VIN to see if all of the updates were done on your bike.

I forgot to use the killswitch when I parked it up once before going away - after 2 weeks came back to a dead battery. Haven't forgotten since and had no further problems.

Sounds like a battery to me. Get a volt meter and put it to the terminals when cranking and see what your voltage drop is.

if you dont have a voltmeter, remove the battery and have it tested at an auto zone (or other auto parts store, most will test for free)

Is it fully charged? Is it the correct battery?

Voltage Regulator?

Check the connections to the ECM. (under the left pod)

Re-seat everything.
