Me and my wife will have our first ever vacation on Maui in August , Is there any of you guys that might have some tips of thing that we need to do/see there.
1)Drive the road that goes around the perimeter of the island. Black sand beaches, waterfalls for jumping into, and alot of other cool stuff I can't remember at the moment. I do remember it was one lane in places so you may have to back up if you catch someone coming the other way.
2)Go to top of the volcano for sunrise! If you rent a bikini top jeep as we did, make sure you dress warmly. It's a 30 to 40 deg temperature drop from sea level by the time you get to the top.
We also did a day tour of the big island with a small tour group. I really enjoyed the tour and our guide was awsome. But there was a few stops that just didn't do anything for me. PM me if you want me to elaborate.
Raz
trip to hana, bike tour from crater, sunrise at crater, iao vally tour or hike, plantation train tour, horse back down crater, snorkel molokini crater, hit up the beach and relax lots of traffic leave early for everything
Ankrizm is right I did almost all things he listed on my honeymoon, we wanted to do the biking tour but we didn't want to wake at 4am or whatever it was. Enjoy road to Hana there is awesome amazing stuff to see.
I second molokini snorkeling. We went there on a tour that also went by turtle bay. I say go early, and avoid the huge snorkel tours and find a smaller boat. We had 20-25 on our sailing catamaran and saw lots of fish and turtles until the huge power boat "cattle marans" with hundreds of people/kids showed up and scared all the turtles away. Inlaws did a scuba tour on the outside of the crater that I wish I did (see sharks). Definitely visit the crater. There is a zip line tour at the base of Haleakala that was cool. There is a beach on the north side called slaughterhouse that also had great coral areas and lots of fish. Best public beach for snorkeling we found.
