Does anybody know about what temp. the heads should be at normal operating temp? I checked mine today with an infarred temp guage and it read around 335 f. I thought that seemed a little too warm. I checked because I had a tad bit of a heat ping riding around today.

335 F for an air-cooled engine is very plausible if I remember correctly. Only time you should be seriously worried about temperature is if you exceed the autoignition point of gasoline (Gasoline (Petrol): 246°C (475°F) or a temperature large enough to change dimensions considerably (really really doubt thats possible) or a temperature which screws up the oil etc.

Very general answer I know but hope it helps and I hope I'm accurate.

Thanks for the input, I found in the manual after tons of searching that they can run as warm as 425*f and be safe. It looks like the actual range is 285*f to 425*f.
