Agree with buell248! buell do a comfort kit which i think may fit most models and that has various shields for various places or you can buy aftermarket clamp on exhaust shields or get inventive and see what you can come up with? here is the kit which someone will tell you what fits! what buell model/year do you have? The comfort kit is a great option either way.

Header wrap can hold moisture yes, but only if it gets wet and then sits. It would still take a lot to rust it out though.
So riding in the rain is still ok etc...
It will probably mess up the finish but you can sand and re-polish them if you change your mind later.
So if it's a show bike no. If it's a driver, yes!
IMO if you keep in a garage or in a place that doesn't rain a lot, or you just ride it every week, the benifits of a non-roasted inner thigh are worth it.
Get the good titanium stuff. The cheap stuff disintegrates with water.

The amount of comfort I got from wrapping the headers on my 9s was negligible. The amount of time and effort it took to wrap them then rewrap them the following year and then sand and polish the headers after admitting to the fact that wrap sucks, made me wish that I had never tried it in the first place.

I used DEI Titanium and it crumbled apart by the end of the riding season.

I agree that the amount of comfort gained from header wrap is minimal. I wrap mine more for looks. And the look I go for is a rough around the edges kind of look.
I also use the header heat coating/paint that is recommended by most of the header wrap manufacturers. BUT it all fades! Black wrap, white wrap, titanium or whatever it all fades and needs maintenance.
If you want your headers to LOOK NICE either get them ceramic coated or polish them.
If you want to reduce the amount of head on your leg either buy or make a heat shield.

The wrap doesn't cut down on the heat that much. The heat shield isn't bad but you'll still get a hotspot from the section of frame where the rear header turns out by the leg.

I used a heat shield sticker on the inside of the frame just next to the header but I would be carefull because it reflects the heat back at the rear head.

I still get warm buns when I wear mine.
