I just installed HID's on my 1125r and was wondering if anyone has done or know of a headlight delay so I can start them after the
bike is started. Also if this matters i will be
updating my rectifier with the mosfet, any help
will be greatly appreciated...and here is my 2008
1125r, just picked it up and already have it Back
apart to put some new goodies on it...enjoy and
thanks for any help!

This guy did a nice write-up on his HID install and why he went back and installed a timer delay for the headlights and how he did it. I followed his instructions and got mine to only light up after the bike is running so the ballasts wouldn't drain the battery up front.

Thanks for the links... hopefully will get that the relay installed shortly, and as for the regulator, I have been getting the error message and low voltage pull from a new battery, soooooo I just assumed to upgrade, better safe than sorry i guess. again thanks guys, this site has helped me more than enough for both my xb9r and the 1125r!

The '08's have a lower output stator and there was a programming glitch that allowed the IC to drain the battery while the bike was shut off, unless you used the kill switch. If your ECM is up to date, that problem should be resolved. Of course, the upside of the lower output stator is that they don't fail. I would suggest a battery tender at night. I don't use mine every day, but definitely if the bike has been sitting a few days, or if I spent a lot of time idling in traffic on a hot day...usually every two or three days it goes on the charger. I have an '09 with the convenience plug hooked up to the battery. I just have to pull the plug out of the right side air vent under the seat and plug it in.

I had HID's on for a while and I loved them. By the time the engine light went out on the pre start cycle, my HID's would be up to just about full bright. Unfortunately, my stator died with the HID's installed, they still seemed to draw more power than the stock headlights, even after warmed up. I removed them to get the warranty work done and hesitate to put them back on. Hell, just using the high beams for a few seconds caused my bike to stutter on the highway and killed my volts.[sad]

I fitted a toggle switch into the head light crcuit.Ive had one in my H D fxr for 20 years.I found its relaible and inexspensif way to kill headlight. And will do my 1125cr 2010 as well. It becomes part of your riding habit prety quick to turn it on and of,I also use it during the day to make it go on/off when i flick my standard hi/low beam switch,i flick it on and off at cars as i come up on side roads etc.Yours Freight dog sounds like it has a charging prob going on.(mines allready bin thru the burnt stator etc) but i dont have problems starting bike when all that was sorted. If yours is stutring when you go hi beam it would have to be under charging dont you think. When my stator burnt out it first gave the low voltage reading i was on a 700 km ride so i ignored it but then it blew both my low and high beam bulbs cookt the battery and got me 60 k from home.all under warrenty so all good.Oh and it fride the regulator. Its a bit of a worry as its all to comman on them. Aparently they fitted the upgrade kit when repairing it, ive done about 15000 k with new one and so far all good. [cool]KIWI

thanks again for all the responses.....I have some work to do seeing as I have a battery tender hooked up, but I just went out to start the bike and the battery is dead [sad] Luckily I won't be riding anytime soon due to a shoulder surgery, but I need to start working on the electrical issues, and that is without the HID's installed!
