Ok so just recently my low beam went out . It was in there for over a year that i know of . I changed it with an exact replacement twice now and it keeps blowing out. Hooked it up to ecm spy and no trouble codes and havent found a short . Can any body help me figure this out please

are you touching the bulbs with your bare hands when fitting them?

If you are, try fitting it without touching it, hold it in a clean cloth or tissue.

Basicly everytime you turn the light on little tiny pieces of the filament detach from the filament due to the heat and when the bulb turns off they reattach to the filament because its the hottest part, but if you touch the glass you leave a greasy mark so that when the bulb is on you get a hot spot on the glass and the little tiny bits of metal reattach themselves to the hotspot on the glass rather than the filament causing the filament to break way quicker than it should.

hmm sorry mate not sure then, maybe your voltage regulator rectifier is on its way out, i think they sit behind the front wheel on the XB's (metal box with loads of fins on it for cooling).

Does your Hi- beam work ? ck.,wires to & from unit you worked on, Type of bulb & how long does the bulb last. Year/make of bike? Is bulb seated proper? Where is bulb bought at? Try a different source i went thru.,2 bulbs in less than 100miles.Bought one at Wallyworld of all places & now over 2'800.mls on the bulb in it now. HD sold me the first replacements. Go figure. Found out there was a recall on it so i saved my stuff & relunctly let them touch Her. So far Ok. We'll see .

The amount of vibration and heating and cooling cycles affects filament life greatly. H7 and h1 bulbs tend to burn out more than other because they just aren't robust enough to withstand vibrations. Not exactly sure what the xb has.
