Hey guys,

I did the headlight mod a month or two ago and everything was fine. Then, my low beam went out. Replaced both bulbs! A few days ago I noticed that one or the other would go off while I was riding. But, whichever one that goes off comes back on during my ride. This morning, took my bike for a short ride and noticed that both high and low beam are off and did not turn on at all!

Does the headlight mod have anything to do with the issues I'm having with my lights now? What should I do now? I'm all ears! Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appeciated!

Check the connections behind the windscreen. I don't have the mod but mine is always going out from a bad connection there. Is the high beam light one all the time?

Yes, both hi and lo beams are on all the time.

I made sure that all connections were good when I did the mod. Checked it again when I replaced the bulbs. Everything seemed fine.

It's either you're connector pins not mating good, relay/fuse loose in it's holder, or a short in your wiring somewhere. I'd start with checking the first 2 things and save the short for last.

If it was me, I'd turn my keyswitch on so both lights are on and start wiggling stuff from the front back. Hopefully either from wiggling the connector you modded for the dual-beam on, wiggling the wiring running back from there to your fuse box, or wiggling the fuses/relays themselves you will see you're light flicker to tell you exactly what it is. Then go from there.

Edit: Of course checking the bulbs to make sure their seated is a given.

freshrida, I think that, per the last post, you should pretend you are Stevenc150 so you can do what he would do.

Its your pin connections. Mine did the same thing and I had to end up zip tying the connectors together to keep contact.

Bajabomber,

How exactly did you do it? Any pics! I'm gonna try and tackle this today after work! Thanks!

Ok put the zip tie in between the white and yellow wire and loop it around to keep constant pressure on the pins. The fit of these pins are pretty bad, mix in the 400lb vibrator and you have a recipe for loose connections.

Bajabomber - That's a good idea with the zip tie. I've just been popping my windscreen off and messing with the connector.

Yep sometimes the janky way is the only way. If I had the time and money to waste I'd solder in a brand new (better quality) 4 pin connector.
