heat wrap

yea its pretty easy. Get some wrap from autozone, they have black. That will be enough to do it twice.

you will need.

bucket of water (to soak wrap, wrap when wet, it will be tighter)
three hose clamps (top of left pipe, top of right pipe, and one for bottom)
and thats it.

Start from the top left, work your way down to where they meet, then start the top right and wrap that all the way under the chin fairing. It will come out great.

gtp3800 do you notice a general heat reduction with this setup?

yea I do, its a huge difference, in traffic my legs are no longer burning :)

Alot of people say not to overlap by going down, but it looks good and its so tight from being wet first, that there is no chance of water getting under the overlaps.

Check out DEI's 'Titanium' header wrap. I put it on my S1, and think it looks great. And you don't have to bother getting it wet first.

if you use hose clamps, you can get them snug then shove them up in there with a screwdriver before you tighten them. I would get 50, Thats what i did, but i managed to wrap my headers and my friends headers on his bolt.

Getting them wet isnt necessary, but it does help. The first time i did it, i did not wet them and I was able to move the overwrap a bit. but now that i wet it this time, its impossible to move.

Couple that with a right side scoop and heat reduction will be noticeable.

very true, you will be impressed, I also noticed better throttle response, (gases move faster in headers), makes sense.

Use the 2 inch wrap, that way you can get a nice overlap.

thanks. waiting on that response to confirm my purchase through amazon. best price ive found

thats half what i paid.[confused]

bit of warning though, if you wash your bike at a car wash or with any type of hose, that black will fade away fast. So i avoid washing it. for now...

also this post was the best i could find to help me get started. hope it helps.
wrap post

I paid 25 shipped for my 50ft roll of 2 inch from ebay last week!! It also came with 8 stainless ties.

I didnt use the zip ties because i heard they can fall off.. cant go wrong with bigger ones, can always cut the excess off.

I think I used a 50ft roll and needed a 25 foot roll to finish the collector if I remember right. 2 inch.

I had the pipe off and started a few inches down from the head, wrapped toward the head, secured with a stainless tie, and worked my way back down the pipe and secured again at the bottom of the header. When it came time to wrap the collector, I wrapped around the end of one of the header pipes a couple times, and then around both headers down to the end of the collector. That helped to lock the wrap in place. And then I secured the end of it right next to the forward exhaust mount with two more stainless ties.

venom: you don't have to take them off.

If you wrap them w/o taking them off how did you get the top wrapped and the clamp on??
I'm planning on wrapping mine and I was actually wondering what pieces I'll have to take off to get to that top bolt to get the pipes off? Anyone removed theirs before??
