heavy braking

does anyones front handle bars shake when applying heavy front brake

though i'm not sure what you'd call heavy -ie just short of trying a stoppie..

But no i've never had shaking under any braking

check tire pressures, then if thats all good, check steering head bearing free play, then if thats ok, check the rotor and pad surface.

not necessarily in that order. hehe.


but yes, i have seen it as a complaint before.

I've checked all that on my bike and notice the same thing.

when i first start to apply the break hard it starts virbrating then ill apply it even harder . . . like stoppy hard and its stops vibrating

You ever had to really "lock it up" like in an emergency?? Sounds like you might have warped the rotor. I dunno. I know it's a bike, but my truck acted just like that - turned my rotors, now smooth as silk.

I've braked extremely hard as in I carry the back tire off the ground before I lay it in a corner. and never had it vibrate on me

Vibration is bad. I've never had that prob even under the hardest breaking situations. If you cant find a cause or solution get it checked out by a mechanic.

what is the steering head bearing? where is it located?

Everything on my bike seems to be pretty solid but I notice the same thing on my bike.
