Well, I guess it's been about three years give or take since the last time I've been on here. Life has kept me busy. A lot has happened. Anyway, I'm back, and finally in a position to buy my first Buell. I have it narrowed down to a Lightning or 1125R. I've owned a lot of bikes in my life, everything from Harleys to Rice Rocket ballistic missiles. Now I'm much older (but not dead), I still like to go fast, just a little bit pickier on where I am willing to go fast. I have a 50 mile trip one way to work everyday. I live in the boonies and most of the roads are two lane country roads with the last 10-12 miles being in the city. Most of my riding will be one up, but would like to take a lady for a ride now and then (if I'm not to old to get lucky now and then). Looking for advice and leads to decent rides for sale, things I should check out on prospective bikes (I know about the stator issue with the early 1125's) etc., etc. My wife has just recently passed away and I am ready to get a bike again. So lets hear it.
Thanks, ;)

Thanks, will keep in mind, a little farther away than I would like to go but sounds like a knowledgeable owner who has taken care of at a good price.

Any feedback on XB12S -vs- 1125?

Not sure how much reading you've done so I'll just say a few things about both bikes. 1125 is a completely different animal than the xb. It's just in a whole other league. I will say that the xb is easier to maintain and arguably more dependable. That said I know guys on badweb getting 40k out of 1125's with no issues. On track bikes even. The xb Is a hopped up air cooled sportster where as the 1125 Is a liquid cooled performance oriented twin. The 1125 behaves similar to the xb12 under 5k rpm but doesn't stop making power until... Well it doesn't stop making power lol. Think of the 1125 as the bastard child of an xb and a liter bike. If you would be doing more time in the city/stop start traffic, I would suggest the xb as comparatively it is slightly more pleasant in that atmosphere. However I can personally guarantee you will love either bike. Ergonomically the 1125r is similar to the xbr. Cannot comment on the cr. never sat on one. I loved my xb and miss her sometimes. But I love my 1125 enough for it not to bother me :D

Either bike will feel perfectly at home on country roads. It's what they are best at.

Keep up with the ohio/ky craigslist adds. I see some good deals pop up every now and then.
Welcome back.

You might like a lightning model with an aftermarket exhaust (Micron, Dean Adams, Race kit, drummer or D&D). The Best way is to sit on everything & not be in a rush.
I personally like the Ulysses best.
1125 is hands down fastest (used, reasonable price)
Eventually a decent deal pops up also.
Just have to be ready when a bike with LOTS of accessories pops up.

so the last one, the 2009 1125CR, since the stator has been addressed already and it has some decent upgrades, does $7K sound right? Haven't seen another listing for CR's to compare the price to, but does have low miles.
