Helmet hair. How do you cope with it?

I go through a hat every 4 years on average and keep them as trophies. I put it under my jacket every time I ride. I just got a new one too! The black on my old one had faded to the point of almost matching the brown that the white had been turned to. If that hat ever caught fire, it would burn for a month on the residual oils in it.

Yay new hat!

Shave it...Low maintenance and you feel ready for anything.
I'm folicly challenged so I just buzz mine off every week , besides it makes the upstairs match the downstairs.:D

I hear you. Not quite there yet, but getting there. Swore I'd shave it off before becoming a plug, rug or combover guy.

I have been shaving mine for 16 years now. Although I do get red marks from the helmet on my forehead. I am in sales and need to presentable as well, but I very rarely ride to work.

use a bic twice a week no probs at all! and with meetings with big name architects/port authority/etc and my crazy long goat and playoff beard now still no complaints!

I tend to use a hat for the most part, just tuck it inside my jacket along my side. Maybe a bandana if you dig those[smirk]

otherwise just make it the next big thing

With my "silky smooth hair" there was no helmet head :D
But now that heat and humidity are around the corner being comfortable and low maintenance beats looks... So a two-on-one as they call it around here ;)

If it really matters. I get mine buzzed. A 4 on top 3 on the sides. I'll probably step to a 3 and 2 cause my hair is thick and grows fast as hell. Usually looks the same as it went into the helmet. I used to have long hair and had a hat on all the time.

Go to wal-mart spend $20 get your own Wahl.
When I had the work schedule from hell I could never find a Barber open, so while grocery shoppin at 2am, I bought one, haven't been to a Barber since.

Riding season #2 all around.
Winter #4 top, #3 sides.

I cut my own too. Saves a ton of money over time.. all that is going towards bike goodies :)

Same thing here, bought a wahl, do it myself #2 all around year round. So much cheaper than paying for haircuts and way more convenient

So it looks like you guys got the hair thing figured out. so what are you doing about your finger nails ripping your gloves? 2 pages on "helmet hair" sheeze :D (oh yea, this is still the gayest thread EVER)

Lol..Helmet hair=part of riding. Look better with those lines in your hair from padding, than staples in your head from your skull being split open. [up] for gayest thread. lolz. Not hatin on anyone. but come on!

I have fairly short hair... so it really doesnt bother me much until about 4 weeks after I get it cut...Then I just bring a hat with me. Surprisingly, my hat fits inside of the front fairing of my 1125 perfectly... it is like a little dashboard/ storage space. at least the giant front end is useful even if it isnt the prettiest ;)
